Old Meme is Old

I started writing my answers to this meme FOREVER ago, but I'm trying to catch up on stuff.

Meme: Comment and request words, and I'll give you five words that remind me of you off the top of my head. Then you can post your words and thoughts and whatnot. Yadda.

Have you seen these words? I think
analineblue lives in my brain.

Comics

Comics are the most unappreciated medium out there, and I love them like candy. Not the least because superhero comics are like the crackiest thing ever. No, really. I'm a Torchwood fan, and I'm telling you, SUPERHERO COMICS WERE THERE FIRST. I'm not as involved in comic book fandoms because they're hard and full of pairings I don't really read (There is no way Bruce Wayne would sleep with someone he considers his son. Just....no.) but the only really long fic I've ever written was in the DC Universe. I love reading about the background of the industry as well, the crazy background stuff and the various writers and artists and craziness. My RSS feed is 75% comics-related, with Newsarama blogs and DC news and Linkara and some LJ stuf and Scans_daily and whatnot. I keep up, even if I don't read every comic out there.

Also, comic book stores are like hotbeds of geekiness. I try to look them up wherever I go, and I always leave a little bit poorer. But happier, mostly, so that's good. :D

Inspiration

...comes from EVERYWHERE. Man, such a problem. In terms of fanfiction specifically, I am constantly starting new stories and then not finishing them because something new comes along. Never mind fanfiction, I start livejournal posts ALL THE TIME that never get finished. The UK especially just inspired all these ideas and feelings and stuff and then I just have to write. And then SOMETHING ELSE WOULD HAPPEN. The world, I tell you.

Anime

I'm not the biggest of anime fans, although I have been to a few cons. I've only ever bought two series - Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad and Princess Tutu. Beck is good, Princess Tutu is AMAZING and this video will show you why. I was more into anime/manga for a while a few years ago, and I still consider myself a fan although I'm way out of the fandom. I sometimes wish I was more active, but it's a daunting fandom, and it's changed since the shojo boom when I first joined. TOKYOPOP HAS CLOSED. WHAT IS THIS NEW WORLD? (Oh, man. The Tokyopop reaction post. I need to finish that. See above.)

Fanfiction

Love it. Love it, love it, love it. I found fanfiction.net years ago, with Animorphs fanfiction if I recall correctly, but I didn't start writing until Lord of the Rings, years later. My early stuff is atrocious, and kind of fell in and out of a few fandoms before settling down recently. I've written more for Torchwood than I've ever written for anything else, but I was seriously into LotR and Harry Potter for a while, and I have that one Outsiders fic, all on my ff.net account. I have intense rec lists for myself in all sorts of fandoms, and I have go-to fics for all sorts of moods, and AO3 has made it easy to just download fics onto my phone/portable device and carry them everywhere for instant happiness.

Yeah, fanfiction. Awesome.

Travel

I love traveling. (Man, do I sound like an overly enthusiastic person in this thing or what?) But really, I do. My biggest regret about my eventual graduation to Real Life will be my limited traveling time. I mean, I just came back from England, and I'm jet-lagged out of my mind, but I miss it already. Living in hostels on chocolate and potato chips, freezing my butt off in Scotland, train rides everywhere...best time ever. I'm going to try to do some local touristy things this summer, and hopefully get some more travel in if I can. And of course, I'll have to live vicariously through
analineblue for a bit. :D
