Hey! Torchwood doesn't have all the kink, guys! (But it could. It really could.)

So, I stumble on this article about Wonder Woman costuming and how the original fetish design was focused on shoulder and back muscles and modern fetish tends to accentuate boobs, and so the costume design tends to not work so well with that. (Also Wonder Woman's costume also doesn't work well with real women bodies, but that was sorta duh.)

We all know that William Marston (original creator and writer of Wonder Woman AND the lie detector) was a kinky, kinky guy right? Lived with his wife and mistress in one home and clearly had a Thing for bondage. (Read ANY old Wonder Woman comic. Entire stories were typically about a man tying Diana up. Like, that was the plot.)

But in the article I read about this "...Amazon game in which some women dress as deer so that their Amazon sisters can catch them, truss them up, put them on plates, and pretend to eat them. There's certainly kink here…"

The article points out that this kink is a non-male-gaze-standard kink sort of thing, and comments that "...it's embedded in a narrative of dominance, submission, and play. The kinky frisson is tied (as it were) to the artificiality of the doll-like poses." (You can see the panels referenced in the article.)

I love reading the odd backgrounds of superhero comic stuff, so I would have read the article anyway, but in the back of my mind, all I could think was, "Well, there's a kink we haven't seen yet in Torchwood fanfiction." To be fair, there was that one fantastic fic where Ianto actually ate Jack, but it wasn't after a pseudo-ritualistic kink hunt, so there you go.

In my real life, however, I was writing a paper about Victorian philanthropy in the UK and read about an article ("One Night") by James Greenwood, a reporter who went undercover one night in 1866 in a workhouse (free housing for the poor). There has been doubt thrown on his article since, but one of the big deals was the way he heavily implied that there was rampant homosexual sex in workhouses at night, and of course my brain instantly assumed that someone needs to write a Victorian-era rentboy AU with Jack and Ianto.

I don't even like rentboy fics! What the hell, brain?

TORCHWOOD FANDOM, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?

And while we're on the topic of connecting other stuff to Torchwood, promo stuff for the Tintin movie is finally being released. Somewhere, Owen and Ianto are bickering over this. Owen thinks that it's nice a mainstream film is finally supporting bestiality. Ianto is hitting Owen on the head with a brick.
