Wow, so this is my first LJ post since December.
I have a confession, though--I HAVE been on here, mostly to read a few specific journals or keep up with certain communities.
Anyway--what has everyone's favorite moi been up to? Gods, tons. (Cut for those of you who have talked to me in the last year.)(

I would love to be on any of your filters :)

That blog link was awesome. Someone else told me to focus on ancestor veneration and reminded me of some down-home conjure methods. I felt dumb--I've been neglecting those things (ancestor worship) since I ceased having my own space and my own altar. Not having an altar SUCKS. How any religious person doesn't have at least one or two in their house boggles my mind.

I actually kind of do have a travelling kit, but it's not really adequate. And it's hard--I normally have offerings of food and water and Florida Water and alcohol and whatever on my altar for all sorts of beings, and it's lack of bowls and space that has contributed to my laziness in such regards.
I think I will probably up the ante, though, and do something along the lines of what you suggest. It sounds helpful.

If you're worried about offering bowls, you could always try just putting some of the alcohol or water on your fingers and flicking it to the direction you perceive the being to be in. As long as you do it with proper intent, it's still an offering - it's just commensurate to the space and resources that you have available. If you're outside you can also pour the offering on the ground. Make sure to pour one out for your homies, too :-D
I'll try to stop giving uninvited advice now, haha.

That's a good point; I offered tobacco yesterday, which was good. This is why I often resist disruption to my personal business as usual; I'm adaptable, but it sometimes takes me a little while to even notice I NEED to be.
Yes, libations and flicking. Karina, in Austin, taught us a space cleansing/preparation rite that she learned from Francesca that involved flicking/pushing salted water into the space, and working with that as per her instructions has been interesting. All this makes me realize how eclectic my magic(k)al education has been, and how nice it is to be trying to dig down into one tradition/style primarily, with other things as informative tributaries rather than distracting co-interests.
Oh, and uninvited does not necessarily equal unwelcome. I appreciate & respect you and your advice.
