Panning is hard
Originally uploaded by eldan When I used to live in Brighton, everyone knew Lewes as the place to go for Guy Fawkes' night. There it's a combined commemoration of the Gunpowder Plot and the several people who were burned at the stake in Lewes during the Marian Persecutions, and has become an enormous event over the years. I had raved about this enough over the years that Melinda insisted we one day go to Britain at the right time of year to go. This year we had no weddings to plan our trip around, and wanted to stay in Seattle as much as possible through the summer, so the timing was right and we finally managed to go.

It really is an extraordinary spectacle, and I took a lot of photos.

photography, history, the old country, marking time, autumn
