The Final Four

Apr 03, 2005 13:47

So I'd thought I'd write a little about the most recent events in my life since my friend is on the couch taking a nap and I have some time to kill. On Friday, I packed my bags in route to St. Louis for the Final Four! I am fortunate enough to have an aunt and uncle who love me and have connections, so they were able to get me tickets to go see the Final Four. I got an early start on Monday thinking that the earlier I leave, the earlier I'll be in St. Louis. Well, things got off to a bad start...I went to Enterprise to get the car that I had rented but since I had put down 12 pm as the pick-up time, they couldn't give me the car, because I was 2 hours early! So I went back to my place and patiently waited. At noon I went to pick-up my car and left Cincinnati at approximately 1:00 pm. The drive there was pretty long and I was starting to get tired and bored, but fortunately a friend called me, so I got into talking to her and she helped me from not falling asleep. So I'm on my way to St. Louis and just as I am about to leave the state of Illinois, one of Illinois's finest decided that he had to give me a souvenir before I left. So we pull over, open up a bottle of champagne, and celebrate my trip to the Final Four, right there, on the shoulder of the higway. After about 15 minutes of partying, he gave me a thank you card, cause apparently I was the only one who stopped and partied with him and then he told me: don't forget to write back, feel free to send in a check! So anyways, I get back on the road and continue my trip to the City of Blues. So I finally get there around 6:15 pm (I probably would have gotten there a little earlier if I wouldn't have stopped to party!!!), and go out with my friend to dinner. We went to this place called Qdogas (or some shit like that), which is pretty much our Chipotle. Apparently here in St. Louis they like to be original cause they also call our Panera, "St. Louis Bread Company" (or some shit like that). Anyways, after dinner we went to this b-day party. My friend and I were supposed to spend the night there so I was going to drink it up, but something happened with some other people at the party so everyone was cordially invited to go celebrate elsewhere. I was a little pissed cause I was enjoying myself and had drank quite a bit cause I didn't think I had to drive back. Anyways, party was over, so we went to a friends house and some people watched Lord of the Rings, while others just went to sleep (aka ME). Saturday we woke up and came back to her place and during the afternoon we had a long walk in the park. The weather was nice and we had some interesting conversations so it was all good. At around 3 pm we headed back to her place since I had to get ready to go to game. When I got to the stadium it was packed and there were a lot of people outside waiting to be let in. Apparently, the staff at the stadium decided that it would be nice to have a lot of people crowd up in front of the stadium, cause they decided not to open the gates and let us in. One brave soldier decided to jump the fence and let the staff know how much he loved them. The staff told him that they loved him too and that if he didn't jump back over the fence, they would take him someplace nice to watch the game by himself on TV. So the guy kindly declined the offer and jumped back over the fence. After a few minutes of people expressing their love for the staff, they decided to let us in. So once in the stadium I found my seats, right next to my aunt and uncle. They were really good seats and I was so excited to be there. So the game started and the first half was really close. Illinois ended the half with a 3-point lead. At halftime I received a call from a friend, who thought it would be nice to let me know that her team was winning and that my team sucks. So I fired back a: You better hope I'm not the one calling after the game to tell you who sucks. So the game resumed and after 20 minutes of dancing and scoring, Illinois was proclaimed the winner. So I grab my phone to call a friend (the same friend that called me at halftime) and congratulate her, but the call wouldn't go through (I think because there were too many cell phones around and all the signals kept getting crossed). After a while I received a voice message from that friend, which I really couldn't hear because it was too loud in the stadium. I eventually heard it later on that night and was so glad to hear that she tought I was a man!!! So I watched the second game which was pretty close during the first half. Michigan St. had a 5 point lead at halftime. It was then that my aunt and uncle decided to leave because their ride wanted to leave. So they sold there tickets for Monday's game (since they won't be coming because there team lost) and bid me farewell. The second half of the game was really boring, not only was I alone, but UNC just dominated completely and the game was pretty much decided after the first 5 or 10 minutes of the second half. So after the game I headed over to my friends house, had some dinner and then we went to a toga party. After the toga party we walked about a dozen drunk guys to there house and then watched a movie. Well, I really don't know how many of us really watched it cause most of us just fell asleep. So after some sleep, here I am, recounting the events of the previous nights. Tune in next time to find out how the NCAA Championship Game went and any other crazy shit I decide to write about. Hasta Luego!
