Success!
story: yesterday after work I walked home, feeling a little mopey and detached form my friends since I've been hermit-ing away my sickness the past two weeks. the mail included my next NetFlix - a mini 'woot' - and a thin, rejection letter looking envelope from Cornell. so I accepted the rejection in my heart and unpacked the nacho material I'd picked up, took off my shoes and shirt (what, like you don't unclothe as soon as you get home?) and decided to open the letter anyway before chucking it.
lo and behold, to my great surprise it was an acceptance letter. I got into Cornell. I just. wow. I . wow. I don't. wow. I called: my mom, dad, gusband, bff, Alisa, NY friends, Lala, then got sick of talking and had to shower before friends came over for Apples to Apples & Nachos night so starting texting. cut to, like, 12 return phone calls from the texts. including two very happy surprise calls: my Aunt Trish and my cousin Neil who happened to be in the states for ~12 hours! (he flies planes and lives in Taipei.)
anyway, talked roomie Dan into coming home and he brought cheap champagne. Joanna, Ben, David, and Emrah were our guests for the night. Em brought champagne also (yeesh, champagne hangover this AM.) we had a super fun night!
today I felt good enough to go for a 4 mile run at lunch. I also had to get a small coffee from ABP. note to self: I do not like ABP coffee. so far all I've enjoyed is Dunks. must continue to sample various establishments' brews. after I ran I weighed myself finally after avoiding the scale for since Thanksgiving, thinking I've gained about 7 pounds between that, Chocolate Party, and getting sick and guess what - I haven't gained a single pound. 146.2 on the DOT. thank you, gods of viral infection, for not cursing me too harshly.
going to CBC tomorrow for the first time in ever. mostly to hang with Greg. and a Game contestant may be there. I've only got about 2 months to win it!
maybe dinner at Natasha's on Thursday. nachos & beer on Friday. marathon BSG with Michael on Saturday. steward SNM Sunday night.
