We have a filter here at Simon's house and I drink that water, and reuse bottles, but after a few days they start to smell and have to be replaced. At home I just use my Nalgene, and tap water.
I heard that too, but there have been further tests done that say that the chemical that causes the harm you'd have to have in unrealistic amounts in order to hurt you. It's sort of like saying that the aspartame in Diet Coke will kill you, but then they don't tell you that in order to get that much you'd have to have more than any one person could ever consume in a lifetime.
I knew that reused water bottles are bad for you over a long period of time, but if you keep them at normal temperature and get rid of them after a few days or a week then it shouldn't hurt you.
Either way, I'm not sure how you're meant to go about having water on the go without lugging around a big glass jar. Not that I don't appreciate an old Ball jar, but it isn't really practical. I'm willing to take my chances with my Nalgene and plastic bottles. And if it makes it any better I always recylce my old bottles. Sure it takes energy to melt them down and create new things out of them, but at least they don't have to make more plastic!

I found something about it here, but it might be a load of tosh: http://www.englishforums.com/English/PlasticBottlesHealthHazard/bdwzb/Post.htm
I've just looked it up and apparently I didn't just invent the word tosh. Now I'm sad, but I'm going to use it anyway.

Someone should have told the gymnastic team. But then, most of the internet is a bunch of tosh.
