Juarez, Mexico

Mexico. Where do I begin? I guess it would be the 8-9 hour drive down there. It was actually pretty pleasant. JT and I sang along to songs like always and didn't want to kill eachother. Which is a true test with any kind of person. Being a car for 10 hours not stopping tends to drive you crazy. We stopped at this gas station/truck driver stop in the middle of the mountains and I found a pin that said Chevy on it in retro writing. The boy suprised me with it and now I wear it on my coat for school. :D

So we get there about 5 in the morning. We have no idea where we're going. We made no hotel reservations. We drive around LOST in Juarez until 7 in the morning. I was getting really frusterated and so was he. Downtown was scary and I was afraid I was gonna get shot there. We finally found the not-so-poverished area of Juarez and found this Hotel called 'La Teja'. It was absolutely beautiful. Not so much from the outside but our room was gorgeous. Tiled floors and a gorgeous shower and a beautiful view into the courtyard. It was perfect. I wish I had taken pictures of the room but I didn't. I just kept the shampoo from it. :D

So we konked out. It was about 8 am when we fell asleep. We woke up around 2-3. Decided to go explore downtown. Drove around for THREE HOURS trying to find a parking space. Finally did. Waited in line for the bank to get about 80$ exchanged. We got some coins too so that we could pay for the meter. JT ended up giving the guy who put money in the meter for us all of our coins so we drove around for about another HOUR finding a parking space. I was really frustrated. He could tell. We hadn't eaten which also contributed to the frustration. We ended up going to this place called Villa Del Mar in downtown Juarez. It was cool because you walked in and it seriously looked like the pit grill in Arlington. Except our waiter was in a tux shirt and pants. His name was Chuy. He was really nice and gave us a menu in English. I had a sangria. Yum. I ended up ordering this stuffed fish thing. AMAZING. Jt had some fish octopus thing that was really good too. We had flan. TO DIE FOR.

We walked around more downtown and just browsed the markets (since thats really all downtown is). We went into the catedral downtown at some point...I can't remember if it was that night or not. That church was beautiful. We listened to some of the service and left and went back to the hotel. The thing about spanish is that I can understand pretty much everything they are saying, but I can't speak it. I know enough conversational spanish to get by and I know numbers and colors. (How to speak them). JT doesn't know numbers so between the two of us we got along perfectly.

The next day we went downtown again and spend the whole day there. We bought some pan de muerto (Day of the dead bread...or dead bread if you translate it like its supposed to be). What they do is they build altars for their friends/family that has deceased and the bread is on there and they eat it on last day of muertos. The bread was really good, btw.

We ate really well while we were there. Never got sick. We ate at all really nice restaurants. One night we went to this place called Martino's that his friend Charlie said we had to go to. Hoity Toity 5 star restaurant. We had a very romantic candlelit dinner. A five course meal with drinks (I had a sangria and white wine to go with my flounder) for 40 bucks in american money. We also had rhum al flan. They poured rum and brandy over a flan and set it on fire and it was THE BEST THING EVER. OMG. I want some right now so bad. Everything is so cheap there and everyone is so nice and has such character.

We spend most of our time downtown in the markets and went to a place called Mercado Juarez which is like an indoor market where you barter with them. I got Brennan and my mom sombreros, a shot-glass for my grandma (she collects them), a skull pipe made out of marble, and sugar skulls. It was fun but the day I bought the sombreros I was really fucking drunk and didn't want to deal with the guy so JT did it for me. :D Hah. We also went to this place called Ajuua (a retaurant) twice and it was really good too. I had margaritas for Katy and 4 shots of baileys and kahlua. Haha. Drunk again at 3 pm. Heh.

We also went to some mexican cuisine restaurant called Maria something where they fresh made salsa by our table and I had the best sangria in the world. He also cooked my food on a barilla next to the table. I can't even describe to you what it was like just that itw as a beautiful atmosphere and I was with my sweet. Everything was perfect. The bill was only 55 dollars (thats the most we spend on food) with an appetizer, dessert, meals, drinks. There just aren't places like that here. We would've easily spend 120 bucks if this had been here.

We went into El Paso one day and took a scenic drive thru the mountains. Beautiful. I did get pictures of that. You could see right over Mexico. We also ate at this little restaurant by the Market and had home cooked enchiladas. OMG. I hate American food. I really do. HATE.

I don't want to type anymore just know that I had an amazing time (if you want to know details just ask me and i'll be happy to tell you about my amazing trip). JT and I are closer than ever. I didn't want to leave Mexico and we got fast food on the way back and threw it out the window while singing god bless america. We pay for the price of freedom here, we really do. We promised to eachother to go back next year. We're going to somewhere else tho.

JT being a nerd in the hotel room with his knife and my glasses.

Big 50s in the hotel, oh yea.

Clouds over Mexico also from the Scenic Drive.

The Sun just starting to set over Mexico.

The mountains were gorgeous.

Jt looking out over Juarez.

A little dark but still pretty.

JT being a freak when I told him to take a picture of us kissing.

Our skeletons we bought in the market laying next to eachother loving one another. :D

Hamburger stand w/familia at the Altar/Tomb thing we went to.

Pallbearers taking the coffin to decorate their altar.

Women who decorated an altar for a lost soldier. They were really nice.

Beautiful skull at the entrance for the altars and tomb festival thing. It was huge.

AND of course I have to have the pictures JT took of me in the hotel room cos they are hawt. :D Hehe.

Damn I'm good at that pouting thing.

Hope you liked em. Sorry I didn't have that many, I kept forgetting I had my camera with me. JT took a bunch of pictures tho and I'm getting doubles so we'll see when those come out. :D Yay. Saw Ray last night with the boy. It was good. Go see it. Kinda long but Jamie Foxx is amazing.

Oh, and this is the last thing I have to say about this.

JOHN F KENNEDY WAS THE LAST PRESIDENT THAT WAS GOOD AND ACTUALLY HAD INTEGRITY.

I will wait until I'm proven wrong and then maybe I will care about politics.
