Like an adult.

Mom called me this morning to warn me that Shut Up Aunt was going to try to recruit us to go back over to The House. I don't know why - I think the place is bereft of junk to shove off on me, and it's not really our place to clean (Uncle Slim is in the final stages of purchasing it). So we've both been screening calls all day. Because we both have things to do at our own houses...

* Made the most amazing meatloaf. Easily top five of all time. Methinks it was the fresh garlic I chopped up and sauteed with the usual green pepper and onion.

* Also tried the beer bread recipe I found, with success. I imagine if it was made with some decent beer - Sam Adams, say, instead of Bud Light - it'd be really good.

* Did the seasonal turning of the closets. Ended up giving away nearly half of Mickie's summer wardrobe because of her recent growth spurt. She's going to Watonga this coming weekend to hang out with Nana (Papa Jack is working all weekend, she said), so if they end up at the mall...

* While sorting out clothes, I tried on two pair of jeans that were too tight to button not too long ago. They both buttoned this time! (Alas, one revealed itself to be a pair of Mom Jeans, so to the thrift pile it went.)

* Did some preliminary hotel shopping for our mini-vacation, and the price of a night at Nice Hotel is only nine dollars more than Andy's Favorite Old Standby. Plus, we'd get a free hot breakfast and a kitchenette. And a showerhead to die for. And it smells better.

I need a beer now. And I need to decide what I want from Subway so Andy can get supper after making a drop-off at the thrift store box.
