In which Elbie finds her translation in leet-speak quite garbled...

All I wanted was some nature sounds to nod off to at night. You know, like a thunderstorm (so I don't have to wait for the season to start), or the ocean, or frogs...

What I got instead was a browser hijack. And when I tried to uninstall it, I got a message saying, in essence, "YOU'RE NOT MY MOM YOU CAN'T MAKE ME NYEAH I'M THE PRINCESS OF EVERYTHING I'LL DO WHAT I WANT AND I'M NOT MOVING."

It was like working at the day care again.

Thank goodness Andy knew just what to do. One system restore later (back to February, when life was simpler I suppose), and my computer is running like it should. And not switching my home page from LiveJournal to some sub-rate browser that was doubtlessly looking to spybot the hell out of me.

I wonder how many other people out there have gone through similar. Wanting to dip their toes into the Torrent-ial waters or play reindeer games and ended up with more trash than Oscar the Grouch.

Happy Ending: Andy also suggested I download C-Cleaner (from a reputable source!), and I don't know if Lady Sally has run better since I took her out of the box.

Tonight, I defrag.
