In which a mortgage isn't as scary a concept anymore.

I need to get The House Situation back up and running.

Last night, somebody across the street decided to have about fifty of their closest friends over. They were all outside talking over the loud music (boom thump boom thump) until well past midnight. Andy finally called the police*, and a squad car was in front of the place within fifteen minutes. I guess the officer explained that it was kind of late to be hooting and hollering and letting your kids ride bikes in the street**, because after he left, so did everybody else.

So yeah, I've been out of bed for only a little over an hour. Would still be there if it weren't for the effect sunshine has on melatonin, grr snarl. A nap is pending. So's a shower.

It all got me to thinking about the neighborhood at The House. Older people. Families. A bit of elbow room between houses. Quiet. Peaceful. Very little traffic.

Yeah, I need to suck it up and call Shut Up Aunt*** and have her call Good Old What's-His-Face so I can get things rolling again. Also, Fall Break is at the end of this week, and Mickie's Grandparents might call for her, so I can bring up the down payment with them... Although I hate asking for money from people I actually like.

Also, house insurance hunting. Fortunately, that can be done from work. Also fortunately, I have been with my car insurance company for about ten years, so they'll probably jump at the chance to take more of my money at the lowest rate they can.

Things I'd like to get done today:

- Shower either before or after my nap.
- Finish laundry before it becomes The Thing That Ate Elbie.
- Chip away at the piles that have seemed to accumulate on most flat solid surfaces around here lately. Jeez laweez papa cheese.
- Maybe head to The House and help them chip away at eighty years of knickknacks. Also ask one of my aunts what to do about getting things signed. Heavily hint at needing money loaned to me. Mention that having a kid equals a healthy income tax refund, so I'm good for it.

FOOTNOTES FROM THE EAST SIDE, BEEYATCH:

*-I told Andy to make sure to call the non-emergency number. Having family and friends in law enforcement has taught me that 911 should not be taken lightly. (BFJeff told me somebody recently called 911 to have a medic sent so they could check their blood pressure. Uh, no. They'd have to suit up and send The Big Red Truck so they can do what you can do? Wasting tax dollars, you're doing it right.)

**-I know... I heard somebody rolling around on what sounded like a modern version of a Big Wheel at the Witching Hour. It's a blue-eyed miracle it didn't turn out to be a losing game of Frogger.

***-Younger Aunt is also POA, and a lot more... friendly? I can ask her about things.

neighbors, to-do, fam damily, house, stupid people, sleep, grr snarl
