Kiss the cook

The cook at work is out sick.

I had to make enough cinnamon toast for about thirty kids and turkey lunches (turkey slices in broth, scalloped potatoes, mixed veggies, and dinner rolls) for about fifty kids.

Nice change of pace, but mildly stressful in its own way. And cooking all that food made me lose my appetite for it. I probably lost weight today. It was fun, too: I turned on the radio for some classic rock and jammed out while I cooked.

It's cute in some rooms - when you deliver the meals, they go "YAY!" It made me feel appreciated.

On a break now - having my first Dr. Pepper of the week (go me) and taking a load off. When I return, I'll have to clean up a bit more, prepare snacks (pre-made cookies and milk), mop the floor in there (couldn't help but notice I was sticking to the floor - our current cook works two jobs and is often in a hurry to get out of there), and perhaps come home early and not cook dinner. I brought home some potatoes (I put some chicken broth in the veggies, or else I'd bring some of those home as well); Andy can put together the rest.

Yuck. I need a shower.
