I'm still waffling on whether I'm ready to get out and about. I went down to the park yesterday morning to see my niece and nephew do the colors with their scout troop and watch the end of the car and bike parade. Then suddenly there were a ton of people around, and a bunch of them were kids too young to vaccinate, and I was ZIP outta there.
Had dinner at my sister's in the evening, just the 8 of us, still my pod, then dad, brother, and his girlfriend all split and I stayed for fireworks. Then walked on home and OMG, the noise. I kept looking to see if the big display at the State Fair was happening, even though I knew it had been cancelled. All the cats were in the living room, relieved to see me, though they never get as overtly nervous as dogs do.
I woke up around 12:15 and the noise was still booming away, and those biggest booms were definitely illegal. Here, in drought-ridden California, you people are morons. And god lord, how many thousands of dollars did you spend?
So it was a nice holiday but didn't do much for my comfort level with crowds or my appreciation of the general public. I hope anyone who was celebrating had a good time.
Otherwise...my back continues to feel better but not all the way healed, I'm still fighting ants, and I've started another fic, why? And I don't know why I do this, but I'm going to go write some more on it.
