Water meters are being installed in my neighborhood, so that's been happening most of the pandemic. It's low-key annoying, I'm rarely leaving the neighborhood but there's always a detour in a different place. They finally reached my street within the last 2 months or so, and do some then go away then come back and do some more and rinse repeat. And recently, here at the beginning of the drought, have been purging gallons and gallons of water into the gutter, which is frustrating. My brother tells me this is likely necessary but it seems badly organized, so much water waste.
Last week, I got a notice that my electricity would be out today from 8:30-4:00, so I made a note to get my car out of the garage first thing, in case I want to go somewhere. Also, cool the house way down, since it's supposed to be 100 degrees. And make sure all my devices are charged, though mainly my phone will be useful if the Internet goes out.
Ran some errands yesterday and came home to a new note that my street will be closed for a crane today from 6:00-5:00. *sigh* I'm hoping they give the worst-case schedule and neither the electricity will be out or the street will be closed all day. But thinking maybe I'll plan on cleaning and purging.
ETA: neighbor on Facebook says this happened on their street and power was out 7:00-4:00, yikes.
And ants, so many ants lately, ugh. They've been devouring any wet food left in the cat bowls, so I've gotten better at picking those up, so now the kibble is their passion. I hate them so much. I'm hoping that the constant ground disruption from the meter installation is what's driving them in and they'll chill when that ends.
Really just low-key annoyances, but tired of them. And I wrote most of this yesterday and didn't post, feeling just stupidly mopey considering what other people are going through. But now I'm up early and losing power in 2 1/2 hours, and isn't it ridiculous how I have to keep remembering all the ridiculous things that need electricity? I'm cranking the AC to make sure the house is cool enough to last and drinking my caffeine ration for the day.
