Three cheers for the boy who single handedly brought the bookstore to a screeching halt when while vacuuming he accidentally shut off the power to the main server! the store was only down for about 10 mins, but it felt like 20 and boy was my face red! yesterday was a bad day at work, mostly because i messed up big time. that has to be the single biggest mistake i've ever made and although the managers didnt really get mad, i still felt guilty. today was different, i worked from 10 am to 7:30 pm with only two short breaks in between, but i had a damn good time, and i cant explain it. i guess today i felt useful, like they really needed me there, and to be honest, i didnt want to leave when i did leave. i wanted to stay an extra hour! crazy. tomorrow i work another double-shift and i hope it goes well.
pop quiz hotshot: when do you know its time you take down your christmas decorations? when a bird makes a home of your wreath, flies into your place when you're not looking, and then attacks your roommate and his friends when he gets home from a long christmas break. jess was telling to "garden state" our decorations and leave them up all year. i like that idea.
yesterday my mom called to let me know that my car is going to make it! i hate how dependent i've become on that little car, but i have and i'm glad she's gonna be ok. :-)
i will be in Austin this weekend!! i finally get to see Emily's place! ok, i'm super excited about this and so i have a list of things i need to do while down there:
1.) initiate plan: get wilhem girl-pants! emily, i'll need your help there.
2.) eat at the Magnolia to see if cute-magnolia-girl still works there (actually, i'll eat there either way because i loved the movie!)
3.) show emily what bluetooth technology could mean for her phone.
4.) eat an ostrich burger... or not, whatever.
I love Rhapsody. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. its 9 bucks a month, but i can listen to almost any cd i want! i'm finally able to get into bands i've been meaning to get into for... well, forever! seriously, its so much fun discovering all these great bands! right now i'm listening to The Elected's cd and i really like it, which is weird considering i didnt much care for them live. but the cd is good because its easy to tell the songs apart. live, the band's songs just meshed together, but thats usually the case with bands, right? anyway, the cd is great. its "psychedelic alternative country", a very funky and groovy combination. lately i've discovered that i really enjoy country when its not "country". beck-country is good, that should get you an idea of what i mean. i also finally heard the Frou Frou album and i love it. good stuff! the best part of Rhapsody is that it actually makes me want to buy cds! you see, the service allows you to listen to anything, but you cant download everything you listen to. in fact, you cant really download anything. you can build playlists and burn them onto a cd. i guess then you could just rip the cd and make some mp3 files, but its too much trouble. here is a good example: i have fallen inlove with the Shins cd Chutes Too Narrow, and i can listen to it whenever i want on Rhapsody, but what happens when i get an ipod and want to carry it around for my listening pleasure? when that happens i'll buy the cd. same with The Elected's cd, i want to buy it now! how great is that? i've never been one to buy a cd blind. i like hearing it before i buy it, but that doesnt usually work because 95% of cds out there have to grow on me. this means that a quick listen to a cd in a friend's car or at CD Warehouse, doesnt usually cut it. now i can listen to a cd multiple times and give it a real chance. its not for everyone, but its perfect for me at this point in my life.
