Breakable doesn't mean unrepairable. Hyukjae is more than a little broken. Donghae is too.
This fic contains cross dressing and gender issues. I tried dealing with both topics in what I hope is a respectful way.
(
They lie on the back of Donghae’s truck and wait for sunrise, counting stars and tracing constellations, imagining galaxies that are brighter and better than theirs. )
I think it's a bad and a good thing? Like if you can insert just about anyone in to my fics like say Taeyang from Big Bang and Yoseob from Beast (my god that is a weird combination) and it wouldn't change the characterization I've written than I would say it's a bad thing lol. But I like the fact that you'd feel for them if they weren't Eunhhyuk and Donghae and I think it's a good thing in that sense.
Donghae has been my sj bias from day one and I think because of the interest I've taken in him it's a true joy to write his character. I struggle so much with Hyukjae, both with understanding him irl and writing him in fic but I've sort of come up with this "persona" for Donghae in my head and it evolves but I'm glad you think he stays sort of the same. I like thinking of him as my version of Donghae in a sense. And yes, you do make sense! The comparison between Donghae and the glass house is very spot on because like the house, Donghae doesn't hide what he wants from Hyukjae and their relationship. He's clear on that, the way the glass house doesn't hide the outside world but brings a sense of protection from it.
Their relationship in this fic is very much of a sort of co dependance. Not in a necessarily negative way but when you grow up with someone and have such an intimate bond with them how can what they do or not do, especially in destructive behaviour, not affect the other person? We obviously don't know how close Eunhae are in real life, but this mirrors some sentiments I have about what I see their friendship being like. Especially in that one interview where idk which one of them says that when they fight and one of them ends up crying the other eventually does to. There has to be a pretty tight bond there to cause that sort of chain reaction I would think.
I usually have the worst time coming up with titles and need so much help but I came up with this one all by myself and am rather proud of it lol
Thank you for such a lovely (and long!) comment. Sorry if my reply got a bit lengthy/rambly but I rarely get these sort of discussion invoking comments and I may have gotten a bit carried away otl

level headed - aha i like to think i have 'matured' i guess in a sense; i have had my shipper fangirl moments. but yes, i do believe that fiction is fiction and that sometimes (in any fandom) people do tend to forget that. i'm also in awe at your ability to create the persona of donghae that you have, especially with him being your bias. i have no idea where i would begin; i find it easier to try to formulate coherent characterization of everyone expect my bias - but that is probably just me OTL
lol and never worry about rambling, i really enjoy it when myself or someone i am talking with have so much to say that we get carried away with it^^
