So far, a great day!

I got up early, more or less conscious, and made a nice breakfast: corn bread, eggs, sausages, coffee and tea. I also started a batch of Hawaiian Sweet Bread (recipe to follow). It's proofing in the round pans prior to baking.

Neil liked the Oatmeal Honey Bread. He took a loaf to work, which is good because today was the birthday of one of the clerical staff, Amie. I originally hired Amie, way back when, so it's nice to see she's doing well. ^_^

Yesterday, whilst I was working on the oatmeal bread, I left the room for a few minutes and returned to find several cats crowded onto the warm stove, and Spot was actually lying IN the bowl where the bread dough was rising. (Good thing I had it covered with plastic wrap and a towel, eh?) Cat's lucky I didn't send him into a solar orbit! But the bread came out fine, and Spot looked at me as if my disturbing his nap was my fault. I mean...wasn't that nice, soft, warm, round thing set there just for his comfort?

Tomorrow morning, Neil will return the CPAP machine to Kaiser. I don't think he's going to be getting one of his own. He did not like trying to sleep with something on his face, and according to the test, his sleep apnea is fairly mild anyway. I imagine he could use mine in a pinch, since I have one now. After Kaiser, there will be The Shopping. Neil will also be having the car's oil changed, so he'll drop me off, get the car seen to then pick me up. He doesn't have to wander through a store; I don't have to observe the Weirdness that is Oil Stop.

Supper? Haven't the foggiest. Maybe leftover baked ziti? Or something involving chicken? Ill ponder the matter a little more before deciding. Using up leftovers is Good, but a change of pace is also Good. Last night, we made the mistake of heating one of those frozen entrees from Wal-Mart: "Ranch Chicken," which is described on the package as being made with "masa pasta." Gross. Just...gross. Do Not Want! We'd originally gotten it back before I had surgery because it's something Neil could just throw in the microwave. Fortunately, the cats found it edible, even if we did not.

Neil is working Sunday. Huzzah for overtime! On Saturday, provided all is agreeable, we might drive down to Helen's folks' place to assist with their storage shed. (And I think I'll bake something.)

I have several tasks/projects I ought to do. Do I necessarily feel like doing them? Maybe. Maybe not. I certainly need to go through my clothing (again) and weed out stuff that's too big for me. I brought a sleeveless top to change into to the Ham Cram last Saturday, and it was very, very loose. I also need to, as an adjunct to that project, find all the garments I want to keep and take them in so I don't look as if I've stolen my big sister's clothes. I know for a fact I have several pairs of slacks I need to do that with, not to mention a good many summer tops.

I really ought to go through the shelves in the kitchen and determine if anything on said shelves is worth keeping. I just found several more round cake pans. (One can never have too many, you know said the incorrigible pack-rat.)

I do intend to go for my bike ride today. Maybe a mile, or maybe two. Yesterday it was just starting to sprinkle, so I quit after one circuit of the block (our house, right on McGregor, right on Zinfandel, right again on Cordova, right on Audubon, then Glenfaire, ending up on Viani and back home). It's a nice little ride, and every street has a bike lane.

My friend in Idaho is keeping solid food down, which is wonderful news.

Take care, all. Need to go check the bread!
