This would be what motivated me to make a LJ post: please name your top 10 romantic comedies, friends. Define "romantic comedy" however you see fit. (That sentence makes it sound like I want you to go indie or weird -- I don't, I just want to know your favorites. If your favorites are "You've Got Mail" and "Love Actually", that's what you should

I love Amélie so much (probably also top 5 movies ever) but the romance is secondary to Amélie's story, I think, hence the weird categorizing. (But it is a GREAT romance.) That movie sounds like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, which I haven't watched either (and now won't, haha, but I generally don't care for McConaghey).
JUST LIKE HEAVEN. Did you know it was based on a book? I read the book first, and she DOESN'T know him at all when she wakes up, and in the sequel they just get to know each other and fall in love again (I think, it's been a while). So the ending is extremely Hollywood-y and cheesy, but I liked it anyway, maybe because I knew of this other, actual ending? Like, "oh, of course they had to do this to make us feel good. And I do like feeling good!" Also Mark Ruffalooooooo, he makes any movie better, really, so most of the time I just enjoy the eye candy and not think about it too much, haha. But the trope has such a "you and me agaisnt the world!" side that I really love the movie because of it.

It was Ghosts of Girlfriends past! I'm REALLY into that trope (people being shown or having their present/future lives explained to them...? How do you phrase that?) and obviously Jennifer Garner, and I loved that they were using the same actress from 13 Going On 30 to play young Jennifer Garner, so I was super excited in spite of McConaghey. I should not have been.
NO I DIDN'T!!! That makes me want to read it. It wasn't so much that she remembered him, it was the way that they delivered it. If that makes sense. MARK RUFFALO IS SO WONDERFUL, though, perfect romcom leading man. But yes!! It's such a great trope. And I do think it's well-executed in Just Like Heaven.

McConaughey is so hit-or-miss. Our How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days rewatch was SO FEELINGSY but then it's like. What.

omg TRUE STORY, I took my mom to see that movie (How To Lose A Guy, not Ghosts of Christmas Past) when it came out in theaters, and I could tell she hated it so much that it's always affected my perception of it/made me not want to rewatch it. Do other people have that problem?? Whenever I watch anything with certain people (mostly Mom + Dad + my aunt Monti) I feel like they're judging it, and therefore me, and therefore I judge it more harshly than I would if I were alone?? I don't know, it's weird.
