Yeah I think to some extent - the fetishizing in Kpop is less overt in the traditional way (I think the closest one was the beginning of Genie). While jpop is just very obvious and yes the way AKB48 does it is pretty scary and really popular. But I think it's also normalized in ways bc of their porn industry. I think AKB48 literally has like 50 girls and in Taiwan we have this official AKB48 themed cafe that is just beyond idolization, I've passed by and it is just really weird!! ... We have a non-official SuJu cafe too which I've never passed by but apparently there are just like framed photos of them lol. If you ever visit, we can go. HAHA

Yeah def think that all management groups have such a different process and SM is obviously very good at it. I think the cultural technology part makes me laugh because SM is all about culture and try-hard with the technology part. I think LSM probably did study media theory (well I sure hope he did) because the way he expresses cultural technology is SO VERY Marshal McLuhan. Because that SM Art Exhibit utilized a lot of different technology to view the image to have people interact with the message/image through different mediums. Which is interesting but I am pretty sure all the people who went completely disregarded that part bc for fans/consumers.. it's really about the image/their idols/groups. But I am there seems to be a serious effort from the management to try to take technology seriously. I don't know if it's a sincere effort to try to legitimize pop/idol culture or what.

Also Siwon's new hair for that new drama is so cheeeeesy.

Yeah I agree -- it's there, just less obvious. But it's not all of it in either case. AND L O L @ the Suju cafe thing, if I do I am definitely taking you up on that!

They do all have a different process! But loooool, okay yeah, when you put it that way. The SM Art Exhibit was so over the top, I still can't even. there seems to be a serious effort from the management to try to take technology seriously. I don't know if it's a sincere effort to try to legitimize pop/idol culture or what. This is definitely possible! I'm really wondering what they're trying to do with SNSD right now -- I wasn't suspicious of this article before but did you see that Nightline thing that aired last night?? It was so hilariously obvious SM paid to get that on the air, and now I wonder if the SNSD article was part of that same effort and if so -- why?? It seems like they have way too much going on in Asia to put out more US stuff right now and I'm just... I don't know. I don't know what I want.

LOL YES OMG
