Dear Yuletide writer,
As if I wasn't already rambly enough in my prompts! BUT HEY, thank you in advance! This is my first year doing and not just reading yuletide and I'm excited. And I really hope you weren't disappointed when you got your assignment email. Writing ought to be as nice for you as reading will for me. And this is an obvious disclaimer, but you are not responsible for any or all of the details I have here. I will be happy anyway! I don't mean to be demanding!
I will not be at all upset if you do not want to write porn. (But I would also not be at all upset if you really do want to write porn.) I really like character-driven fic, especially when it's a nice mesh of humor and melancholy and not too far from the tone of the canon. I like pretty prose. I do not like schmoopy romance stories (which isn't to say I don't like romance! I do! I like it a lot! It's just that I'm really not into those stories that are about nothing but how perfect two characters are for each other), I like gen, I like angst (but not for no reason), and I love UST. I love banter and I love good dialogue. I am not that into dudeslash unless it's heavily implied in canon, but ladyslash is always nice. I like roadtrips and intoxication and incidental co-dependency. I like friendship. I like hopeful endings. And I'm pretty vanilla, I'm not that into anything like incest or rapefic or obvious character bashing.
Chuck
Laaaaaast year the Chuck section of yuletide was so slash-heavy. I mean, they were nice stories and I read them, but I tend to be boring and ship canon things, and I like Chuck/Sarah a lot. And I like the way Bryce fits into what would otherwise be a pretty simple boy-likes-girl, girl-likes-boy, they can't be together because the fate of the world is on their shoulders. I don't reaaaaaally like Bryce/Chuck as a consummated pairing but I love the idea of there being some kind of, um, one-sided thing there at some point. But I guess it should also be noted that Sarah is my favorite, and I will be heartbroken if she gets pushed to the wayside by Chuck and Bryce. I will not be heartbroken if either of them gets pushed to the wayside by her.
I do not really like the Buy More characters, but I do love Casey and Ellie and Awesome, and if they fit naturally into whatever you're writing, that would be lovely, but if they don't, whatev.
Philadelphia Story
So I'm going to throw a screencap right in the middle of my letter here:
That is the moment that elevates this film above all the other nearly perfect stories out there. It is delicate and tender and if you can find any way to replicate it with words, I will be forever grateful.
Anyway like I said, I would love some backstory, but I don't mean in a "and then this happened and then this happened" kind of way-- I mostly would like a very telling snapshot of their (first) life together.
Friday Night Lights
I like everyone and everything about Friday Night Lights. And that is why I picked "any". I kind of outlined the things I ship in the prompt I left if you want to use that as a jumping ground or something (except I think I accidentally left out the part where I'm lame and love Tyra/Landry), but really, if you had something in mind when you checked the FNL box (uh, if you checked it), write that. I'd love any kind of cracky, non-canon pairing you feel like exploring (except I don't really like high school kid/adult type stuff), and if you want to write about Herc's manpain or why Buddy Garrity is the way he is, please, please do.
ANYWAY THANKS A MILLION. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ETA: Um, so, after reading
this post I unlocked my (miniscule)
fic recs tag for you. NOT TO PRESUME YOU'RE STALKING ME CONSISTENTLY, but, you know. IF YOU WOULD LIKE.
