3 more miles today puts me at my first signpost.

Hobbiton has been left behind with the rise and fall of the Green Hills
And we have...
Stopped in a birch grove, and eaten frugal supper around 10 pm.
(still Frodo's first night of walking)
Afterward we shall continue on for about 7 more miles until midnight.
