Um. I would like to officially hand in my badge of sanity. Even I acknowledge that I’ve gone rather overboard on the subject of fannish analysis. There are pictures and everything ( Read more... )

But the pictures are pretty! And I like them very, very much. Your posts are easier to read on this layout (though this comment text is so small >.<) and I think the pictures help break up the post too. :D

"And RTD let it be her season, despite Rose’s return." YES. I wholeheartedly agree. Even Martha's arc was heavily overshadowed by Rose, to the point that some watchers wouldn't even understand the Doctor-Martha dynamic if they didn't know about Rose. Martha owned up to the post-Rose position very well, and I was so happy after "The Doctor's Daughter" when Martha, going toward her front door, looks at her ring and smiles. YAY. I was so happy for her. I love Martha, I really do, just not her and the Doctor together. Unless it's really sad and dark beautiful fic, ahah. ;)

One of the only problems I have with Rose is that she's rarely seen away from the Doctor, and when she is, she doesn't know what to do. In "The Girl in the Fireplace," she doesn't save the day, as Reinette's coincidental choice for moving her fireplace did. I haven't watched S1 in a while, and I might be totally wrong, and I do know that Rose gets off her bed (and well, goes to Norway) but joins Torchwood, as you said. It is the Doctor that helps her be that way, but I wish they would've shown some more self-sufficiency earlier. Perhaps it would've undermined their, er, romantic connection, but I liked that much better. I completely love River because the Doctor comes to her, to her house and takes her with him, and he keeps coming back. What. I know the Doctor changes, but that is just incredible to me.

I loved the pictures. I pay a lot of attention to cinematography but I'm not quick at linking to themes -- I just pay attention to colouring and music and angle and such to get cues. (Half the reason why I always predict television or movies so accurately.) (Honestly, when I watch something, I don't shut up. I process all the time, but I don't analyse like you do.) but yeah, the screenshots are what helps the most. I'm completely visually oriented, so caps and captions are always great. :D

also, I'll write my own sort of meta post. Because you told me to. But after like a billion other things I have to do, all online. >.>
