Band Day

Today was quite an interesting day...last year band day started with rehearsal at 8am. This year, it was 10 and I, being the genius that I am, watched Battle Royal with Lei, Brian, Wayne, and Justin so I didn't get to bed until 4. So we have our rehearsal, a good chunk of time to get lunch, then report to the turf field to practice with the tons of high schools that come for Band Day. Now, there is a tuba tradition called shoe football that occurs every year as we wait for the high schools to arrive. As you can guess, it's football played with a shoe - this year it was mine. Running around in general with the way my ankle/foot is = bad idea. Shoe football = really bad idea. So we take a break to do our annual Tuba Pyramid. It was quite impressive this year. After the pyramid, Archer decides to charge the trumpets because they're playing Red Rover. So we do. Not all the trumpets broke their links, though, so I went charging at one of them. Unfortunately Spock decided to go charging at the same one from the other direction. It went a little something like this:

Chaaaaaaaarge!
**sees Spock coming at her**
**WHAM** Ow!
**realizes she's flat on her back and her nose hurts lots**
**blinks 'cause her eyes start watering** Yeah, yeah...I'm fine. Really.
**notices something trickling down the back of her throat and the taste of blood** Crap...my nose is bleeding.
**sits up and stuffs tissues in her face**

Yeaaaahhhhhhh....It hurt. It still hurts. Spock's shoulder is freakin' hard. And it didn't help that he's really skinny so there was no padding at all. My nose is all blocked up most of the time, my stomach has been queasy on and off 'cause of the blood I swallowed, my nose is swollen, and I'm meeting my mum tomorrow for brunch/lunch/dinner/whatever. On the bright side, I don't think it's broken.

Now I just have to figure out how to sleep without making my face hurt more than it does...
