I have to start out this morning by fangirling
azkatrazathome and everyone involved with it. As many of you may know, Azkatraz (a big Harry Potter con) was this weekend in San Fransisco. Even though I live less than an hour away, I didn't go -- lots of reasons, some of them good, some of them not -- but I've gotten a huge kick out of this con comm. I would never have imagined that something like this could work so well.
I've been wishing I'd had more time this weekend (and other than extremely late at night) to hang out and participate, but I've scanned several of the discussion topics with great interest and am seriously *blown away* by the drabbles and art. :) (If I can figure out how to link to a particular section in a comment, I'll go back through and rec my favorites.) It's been a friendly and fun place to stop by and hang out and it's felt like an actual community, even to someone who's been out of it for so long.
And the great news is, it's not over yet!!! :) If you're in the mood, I encourage you to pop over. There's a lot going on, but it's easy to just jump in with the latest discussion topic or set of crack drabbles. Eventually I hope to go back and read the tag team fic, which I hear is great as well. And even after the con is over, the comm will still be around; I know I want to go back and read through the topics on writing in more detail. I saw a ton of great advice and useful references.
Once again, fandom FTW ... and especially the organizers and mods who have put in hours of work on this and really everyone who's contributed. I don't know that many (if any) will see this post, so I'll have to share some love via email. But
blamebrampton and
calanthe_fics and
sansa1970, I heart you all for this, even more than before. :)
