So, if I had one wish
I'd dream I had a fish

I'd hope it was a fat sockeye
So that when it hit that guy

It'd knock some sense into his brain
And school would no longer be a strain

The End

So, my professor is seriously an idiot. Now that we have the time to be working on our paper, he is going to be too busy with other tasks at the end of the semester to give us one-on-one counselling on how we are screwing up our term papers.

I've gotten back my first draft with a speech about how disappointed he was that we really gave him a first draft, not a 3rd or 4th draft. There is no evidence on Blackboard or anywhere else of guidelines for the term paper. He's simply asked for things... such as my abstract... and my introduction... and my first draft.

Which he has gotten.

I've finally gotten my first draft back... a week later (which is admittedly reasonable)... and all of a sudden, my proposed question for the paper is all wrong, and my paper organization is redundant. I've started writing the paper knowing what conclusions I was going to draw. I've not done enough research...

And yet, I'm not a sociologist. I don't have any studies that I want to present. I simply have history to look at. And so history and historical analysis is what I presented and suddenly after all these deadlines have passed... my paper is only a good base to start from.

My question is...

what responsible student doesn't start a paper knowing what they are going to say?

What teacher assigns a term paper without a written explanation of what they expect?

What teacher, knowing what they want, allows a student who has turned in several examples of how they plan to write on... and then criticizes them on their inadequacies?

Screw this guy.

Peace - Eric
