Wow, I sure do take my time posting.
Summer is coming quickly to a close. Beka started her first day of LPN classes today, so I am at UAA getting books and checking the email.
Gas is expensive, so I've decided against a $120 parking permit and will be taking the bus. Its a 20 minute trip, so thats about twice the travel time, but I'll be saving a bunch of moola hopefully. Speaking of saving moolah, I'm going to school this year for free courtesy of Uncle Sam and the state of Alaska. Apparently I was so poor last year that I'm worth of free money. Who would have thought they'd ever give a poor WHITE kid free money? God is good.
So, (the shame), I am a history major. All thanks to UAA and its wonderful ideas of how to structure degree programs to keep students who change majors in school for as long as possible. Well, I'm ready to be done, and so History is the quickest way out over the next two years. In my defense, I do have a good deal of interest in history, even if it is mostly limited to XBOX games based on WWII and other conflicts. I also enjoy reading, and have recently read my complete USII history book. US history is definately more interesting than Western Civ. My plan is to go Peace Corps (if that works out) and then return and use my benefits to complete a post-bac teaching certificate.
Work is working out. I feel like Beka will be working her butt off this coming school year while I putz around, but I may be imagining that. I will probably work 3 more weeks and then say cy-yon-ara. It's been ok getting up at 420 in the morning 5 days a week, but Bek and I get a lot of time together that way. It'll be good to simply concentrate on school for a while and to feel better equipped to tackle extra housework and pull my weight that way.
I've gotta get going. Life is puddling along, just as it should. See ya - Eric
