J.K. Rowling
now I am not one of those people that rushes to get a book (or see a movie on the day it opens). Not really into the lines or the crowd mentality or the cost of hardcover books. But I saw on tv last night that Rowling did a reading of her book in Scotland after it was released. There were tons of people there. It looked like a kiddie rock concert. I was very happy to see that many people in one place to hear a fictional book read. No fancy light show, no singing, no movie stars, just a woman and her book on stage. I might have gone to that if I had been in Scotland. (though I can't imagine she read the whole thing in one sitting, so maybe it was just an excerpt... which isnt as cool, but it was still an interesting visual.)
