Boycotting a Trial?

"BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Saddam Hussein and four other defendants refused to attend their trial Wednesday, and their defense attorneys boycotted the proceedings, demanding the removal of the chief judge they claim is biased against the former Iraqi leader."

...because it's possible to find a judge that knows nothing of Saddam. Even so, given the crimes that he is on trial for, I find it hard to believe that a "positive result" (from Saddam's point of view) is even in the mix. The most that those "evil" court-appointed defense attorneys can do is try to poke holes in the prosecution's case thereby ensuring that the judicial process has been executed to the fullest extent.

And here I was thinking that I had lost my idealism...
