Oy, has it been a week. I am glad it's over, and I hope everything only gets better from here. At least it was sunny today. And I love my friends. =)
Last Sunday my phone up and died on me. It just FROZE and wouldn't do anything until I took the battery out. I took it to AT&T Guy, who professionally took the battery out again and tried to start it up. He looked smug for about 2 seconds until it froze again. Then he grumbled a lot of incoherent nonsense at it and generally looked defeated. In the end he told my it had gone kaput, and that my only real choice was to go buy a "cheap" gophone and put my sim card in it. The cheapest one they had was still like 30$ and was the newer, slimmer, but not improved version of my first Nokia Brick. Without a camera. Not Impressed.
On Monday I finally went to the doctor after the rash that had started out on the back of my head spread to just about everywhere. I was not ok with it on my face. I was really not ok with it at all, but by the time it spread to my face and rest of my body, I was done waiting and hoping for it to go away. So I went in to the health center and he looked at the oozing wound on the back of my head and the rash on my hips and face and pronounced it to be a clinical case of derma-something-or-other. And after confirming that I hadn't changed my diet, soap, detergent, etc, lately, he told me it was probably from stress.
How I am supposed to put up with being allergic to stress, I don't have a clue. It's not like I can wipe everything out and play with bunnies all day. Not that that would be my ideal non-stress scenario, but whatever. (It would be much more along the lines of my "honeymoon", as Laura called it, that I had with Kev at new years.) Anyway, he gave me some anti itch pills which made me not sleep, and told me to come back for a follow up on Wednesday. Tuesday was a blur of caffienated haze punctuated by not loud enough bass drum. Wednesday I woke up with a better rash but infected glands, which the doctor said was normal, and he gave me some OTHER pills that made me dizzy and lightheaded, and by Thursday morning I was a hot mess. I ended up going home early after having to sit down halfway through my lesson, collapsing on Travis, and being told by Gary to go get some sleep. After a 4 hour nap, I did indeed feel better.
Friday and most of Saturday were spent basking in the sunlight, tying to feel more than halfway normal.
By Saturday night, both Laura and Shaina were back in Fresno. We had an awesome time out to dinner at Casa Corona. We attempted to go to another bar before heading down to the Tower District to Vinnie's, but it ended up being full of awkward OLD band people that are... still in college, even though they are like 3 years older than us.
But at Vinnie's it was super nice. The band was more mellow and better mixed, and I had loads of fizzy sugary drinks with maraschino cherries. =) And Shaina and I knew one of the guys who worked there, so we got free drinks. Laura and Shaina got hit on by central american guys, who bought them MORE drinks, and it was all pretty fun. Somehow Laura woke us up at like 9 the next morning for bagels, and then we hung out later in the evening before Shaina had to drive back to Santa Maria. I miss them so much, being able to be as comfortable around people as my best friends.
This week is going to be ridiculous because CBDA, otherwise known as The Four Days of No Sleep and LOTS of Coffee, starts thursday night. I'm excited to get to hang out with Alison and Travis and hustle kids across downtown. I haven't had a good excuse for a geek fest in a while. =) As soon as my rash goes away totally, I will be pretty darn happy.
