Our new apartment

I think it might take me a week or two to stop feeling like I live in a hotel.  I have lived in apartments before, but not the midrise variety where I go in a keyed entry, take an elevator up, and enter my home from a carpeted hallway of identical doors.  Theophan is considering putting up a whiteboard on the door so we can pretend we live in a college dorm.  I am getting used to having tons of people in close proximity.

I have already had to call maintanence once, which is okay because they were prompt and friendly and fixed the problem.  I got the impression that they had to rush through getting our apartment ready and overlooked a couple things.  But we now have a functioning bathtub stopper.  I have spent today unpacking all the wedding presents that go in the kitchen.  We had nowhere to put them at the studio, as the kitchen was already full of someone else's things (we were only staying there temporarily while we figured out whether we were going to be moving back to N.M. or some other wilderness.)  Our kitchen is going to be well appointed, if a little heavy in the glassware department.  We are tentatively planning to move my furniture over from Dafna's on the 17th, although this may change depending on when the memorial for my grandmother is scheduled.  We have an air mattress.  The cats were abusing the furniture free floorspace to have midnight drag races, so there is an obstacle course of book boxes in place to slow them down.

Things I like about our apartment:
Light. Cats have sunbeams
A lovely view of the courtyard from one window and the pool for another.
I can walk to the grocery store, the pet store, the pharmacy, the coffee store, fish and chips, an office supply store....I could go on
Bus straight down Aurora to downtown
Close to Aurora, but I don't feel like we live on Aurora
Relative privacy
Balcony perfect for a lawn chair and some plants
Washer and dryer in my apartment
Dishwasher
Closets and cupboards
Our first place together
