I haven't been posting class notes (I know you are all terribly disappointed) because my doctor said no carrying the laptop around for a while - at least until by back starts feeling better. Nothing too bad, I was just overdoing it.
The wedding is coming along. I am expending a lot of energy trying to keep things simple, which is vaguely funny. I have acquired flower girls because I have younger cousins who always wanted to be flower girls. We have accomplished quite a bit, but there is still a lot left to do. The good news is that most things are on schedule. The bad news is that I still haven’t made my veil.
Theo and I have started looking at apartments. The housing in Lynnwood is more attractive and seems to have more prospects that accept cats, which might turn out to be a good trade off for living closer into the city. It is exciting to be looking for our first place together.
I’m going to be baptized into the Orthodox Church the Sunday before Christmas. I have a patron saint - St. Anna, the mother of the Theotokos (that’s Mary) - but I still can’t figure out who will be my godmother. I mean, how do you ask somebody something like that?
I am still in grad school. I have a profound lack of enthusiasm for 570, but I seem to be doing well despite my total lack of desire to ever do post-graduate research. Why this class is a requirement, I will never know. I am lucky to have a talented group and a fiancée with a master’s degree in statistics. I like collection development, but the sheer size of the final project has me pretty well terrified (I fell behind due to family emergency and a mental shutdown from the stress of school/wedding/family.) 560 I find highly useful, although I will probably go get a teaching certificate sooner of later so this is just the beginning of my education as a teacher. I LOVE my internship at the elementary school. I am buckling under all the stress, though. Today is a good day, but overall I’m freaking out. Next quarter will most likely see me going part-time, on the advice of everyone from my family to my advisor.
I took up knitting. It’s a popular hobby among the library students, and while I still suck at it I find knitting very soothing.
