Warmer weather

I've been taking a lot of walks, since the weather has turned pleasant, and I often take my camera. I thought I'd share some of the pictures I've taken as kind of a "here's what I've been up to lately" :)

The flowers are finally starting to pop up in our yard. It's been very temperate, even on the rainy days, and I'm enjoying the warmth and light.

The first to come out were crocuses!

The crocuses have gone by, but these were today's arrivals.

One morning a week or two ago, we woke up to snow and sleet. The clouds cleared and the day warmed up pretty early, and as I lay in bed, I saw how beautifully the sun was sparkling on the remnants of ice on our skylight.

The old cemetery down the street has been a frequent destination for my walks. It's so big and rambling that I keep coming across parts I haven't seen before.

I love this lady.

The chapel has an absolutely gorgeous green door, and I took some close-ups of the wrought metal hardware.

I really liked this intricate, beautiful design on one of the gravestones.

I found this unique memorial way down at the back of the cemetery. When I took Rachel to it later, she said "They must have been Classicists."

That cemetery has some damn good trees.

Wildlife time! :D

The first butterfly of the season! According to Moomintroll, if the first butterfly you see is white, your summer will be peaceful. If it's yellow, your summer will be happy. And if it's golden, your summer will be extraordinary. A footnote says that they don't talk about what your summer will be like if the butterfly is brown, because it's too sad. However, this is not the first time my first butterfly of the summer has been brown, and it's never heralded tragedy before, so I'm not worried <3 This little one was just so beautiful and surprised my mother and I as we rambled around the cemetery.

This squirrel has been eating all my gourmet bird seed |:[ But he's so funny hanging on like that. I can hardly blame him for finding food wherever he can.

My biiiiiiirrrrdieeeeeees <3 Starsky and Hutch, our new zebra finches, are endless sources of amusement. THEY ARE SO CUTE.
