Well, it's been a mixed day. First off, there were many good developments in the field with Al and I deciding on our project and even finding a site for it and so on, only a few minutes from the labs so all good. Next I got to talk to my lovely lady friend for half an hour, I loves her I does so that is good too. AND then we had a zoology pub quiz (general knowledge questions plus loads of picture rounds with different plants and animals, insects etc), which we WON. Well, a team of lecturers won (and we'd rather come second than be old), but we beat all the other student teams AND the the other team of lecturers.
So what's the bad news? Even as I write this, slightly hampered by the effects of the glass of wine I had from the runner-up prize, I am surrounded by midges - Scottish Midges of Pain. The computers are in a portacabin and they're all flying in, attracted by the warmth and light. There's a cloud of them around me, and every now and then I thin this out by rolling backwards and clapping the air rapidly so as to kill as many as possible before rolling back and typing the next few sentences. Anyone watching through the window will think there's something wrong with me, but it's them who're wrong, of course. I should know: I just won a quiz.
Arrgh I just hit myself in the face trying to get one off my nose before it bit me. Time to beat a hasty retreat, methinks. Sleep well y'all.
