sigh... the start of another work week.

Nothing much of interest happened last week. Work was kind of mellow even with the stuff I am altering from the release. I participated in a focus group to study the results of a recent employee survey. Not surprisingly, the leadership scores were the lowest. I tried to get the point across that we need some kind of dynamic local direction from the directors of our group instead of just passing on the dogma from above. We'll see if they listened.

Saturday night, Beth & I went to our friends house for a little Hold 'Em poker tourney. Beth is the player. I go to hang out, share some of my homebrew, and generally socialize. I also sit in as the dealer. As usual, everyone like the homebrew (see Richards head swell).

Our phone service has been very spotty of late. For over 20 years I had normal phone service through PacBell/SBC and never had an issue. Now that I switched to the digital phone through my cable company three months ago, I have had to call about 3 times for outtages. Beth was going off on the rep over the phone yesterday. They claimed thay had come out on Saturday to check the line because the system sends them a message when it isn't working right, but had no access since the side gate was locked. I was sitting on the couch watching TV when they claim to have come by. Dontcha think that someone would have knocked on the door to try and get access if they were actually here to do work? Or at least leave a note saying "hey, your lines are messed up"? So as Beth is reaming this supervisor, he now says that since they could not do the check on Saturday, they had rescheduled someone to come out Monday to check the line, but now they can do the check without access to the house. Ummmm.... that logic is skipping past me. On Saturdays you need access to our cable box, on Mondays you can climb up the pole on the street to do it? WTF?

Last nights Sopranos episode was another disappointment. The last half of this season has been weak compared as to how it started. They really need to kick it up a notch for the final 8 shows next year.

Hopefully work will cruise through Thursday. I plan on taking Friday off since I am heading to the Real Ale Fest in Carlsbad that afternoon. Even though it's just in the North County I have a room reserved at the Motel 6 a few blocks from the fest to crash at. I usually dont get wasted at the fests, but even if I am a bit buzzed it's safer, and since I plan on attending both days, Fri & Sat, its easier than making the drive back and forth, 40 miles each way. Fellow live journaler beerdiablo who I know from BeerAdvocate is coming out from Texas and will be attending. I also have a few new friends to make with some new BeerAdvocates that are coming down from the LA area, and it will be great to see all the regular attendees that come into town.

The boys 16th birthday is Thursday. Prizes will be awarded. No MTV sized party planned. No car to be given.
