Lindsey's Bougie Product Guide

Jul 28, 2009 01:37

I have recently come to depend on a couple of products and I'd like to share them with my lj.

#1. Kashi pre-cooked grains.
These are great! It's the Kashi mix fully cooked and vacuum sealed in a soft pack. You just fluff the pack, add a tablespoon of water and heat for 90 seconds. I need this for the same reason I need the instant rice bowls below - while I can cook and boil water in my kitchen, it is absolutely intolerable to boil something for 45 minutes in my trailer in summer. With these little guys, I can make my main dish and have an accompanying grain without steaming up my kitchen and using up my one burner. The Kashi grain mix with the spanish rice flavoring is great in bean/rice burritos or as a side to carne asada. Otherwise, I just get the plain and add garlic and butter.
#2. Instant rice bowls. These are a standard for when I make kabobs or a quick veggie stir-fry. 60 second rice with a perfect sticky texture. There are many different brands of these and I've never tried one that totally sucked.
#3. Bolthouse Farms Mocha Cappuccino
YUM! Caffeine and protein.
#4. Bolthouse Farms 100% Carrot Juice
I am addicted to carrot juice right now. I am going to turn orange.
#5. Just Fruit & Just Veggies.
Freeze dried fruits are obviously yummy but my favorite snack is the veggie mix. You can order tubs of this stuff online in all different varieties. Pricey but filling and good for you.
#6. Metromint bottled water
How someone who can't even drink peppermint tea because of acid reflux could stomach this stuff is a mystery but I love it. I can't drink a whole lot of it at once but it is an appetite killer and strangely, I think my stomach is actually getting better since I started drinking it daily. I also tend to get less heartburn on an empty stomach when I drink it.
#7. Alice White Shiraz
Dunno. Cheap red aussie wine. There are a lot of varieties of wine available in the stores here as they make a lot of money on wine tourism - still this cheap-ass wine goes great with mexican foods. Or mixed in with mushrooms for my steak.
#8 Bob's Bleu Cheese Dressing. OMFG THIS IS THE BEST DRESSING EVER. Kristen made us dinner the other night and the salad was a grilled romaine half, garden tomatoes, red onions, Bob's dressing and fresh black pepper. Mouthgasm. I went out straight away and bought some. I don't know if it was ever this good at the actual restaurant but mmmm.
