The 2D/3D Transition.

Right now at college I'm in the awkward 2D to 3D transition where I am finishing up my more advanced 2D traditional animation classes and going into the introduction to 3D animation classes. It's pretty hectic. The beginning 3D teacher is a nice enough guy who worked for Pixar (fruity and weird as hell, not gay just the 40 year old virgin type.... because that's what he is.)  But he's kind of irritating he's one of those people where he thinks he knows EVERYTHING and how it should be done (he's also a little on the OCD side), granted he's the teacher and he does know a thing or two but no studio in the world will want you to make two 3D models in one week (especially since we have other classes and occupations to worry about. He expects a minimum 6 hours work a week on homework just for that one class. Ok I admit I'm a little on the bias side because my BF who had him last semester has become mortal enemies with this guy, but I'm still keeping an open mind. Most likely my BFand I will come to the agreement that this guy is a jerk.... we'll see I have two of his classes one tomorrow.

In RtED news I was watching a little of a behind the scenes tape from DreamWorks on the Road to El Dorado that I've had for awhile (it's called the Electronic Press Kit) and haven't seen in quite some time and I forgot how much behind the scenes goodies were in there; such as the actors performing lines that were not in the movie, Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh singing other songs besides It's Tough to be a God. And Tim Rice going over lyrics for "Trust me" that differ from the final soundtrack version ("Trust Me" was the villain song Tzekel-kan was suppose to have/sing.) I only wish that tape I had was a DVD so I could take pictures off of it. But there may be a good chance that I know some people who have the equipment to do just that.

Recently I also came back from Cancun with my BF and I have lots of pictures from the Mayan ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula. (:::sigh::: The RtED animators were there when they were in pre-production for RtED. Video of them being there is also on the Electronic Press Kit.) When I get a slight break from all this homework I intend to have an entire page for the pictures and maybe have the photos compared to the screen captures.

Well all for now I have more homework to do.... Don't get into animation if you don't like a lot of work kids. (It'll kill ya and make ya cry if you don't love it.)
