tying up the loose ends for going to america at the end of May (i'll tell you more this weekend). just submitted an online request for a new yorker to take me round the city for the day i have free there. you have to give details of your hotel (which i booked on WooGo) so i looked it up and found a review page which i wish i'd seen before. oh shit, read and weep....
What was termed "Newly Renovated" was nothing more then a lousy paint job and cheap carpet poorly installed.Infested with mice, the staff refused to exchange my room for another which was supposed to be a suite which was really a room with 3 closets , one of which posed as a kitchenette, w/o utensils. When I used the microwave the fuse blew and the switch was in a locked hallway utility room. The garbage is stored in the hallways in front of the elevators. The hotel is really a residential hotel or sro with shared bathrooms.I will never use this hotel again. also there is absolutley no security. The night man( a very old one) wears a t-shirt marked security but sleeps in a chair thru out the night, there is no one else present and he is required to open the front doors. The lady attending the desk in the morning, found it an inconvienance to assist me the following morning. The area is beautiful, but since there was nothing available with similar rates , I chose to go to the midtown area and booked in at the Hotel Wellington, which was %1000 better. and similar in price. I'll know better next time.
All I can say is that it may as well have been a Crack House. I left as soon as I saw the lobby, halls and room. I was terrified to stay and ended up driving back to Baltimore (a four hour drive) at 2:00a.m with no where else to stay.
...and there's three others where they came from!
