Hold it in. Pull yourself together. Dammit I said pull yourself together. Leave it be. Forget it. Move on, carry on. Learn from it, but don't let it hold you back. Hold it in.
Holding it in usually results in a person who has a lot or rage on top of a lot of hurt and eventually ends up blowing all their volcanic ash on the people they "love." It isn't good advice to yourself, and holding anything in is unfair to the other folks in your life who're investing in you, regardless of what you believe.
You also can't pull yourself together after you've held anything in and are really full of rage, because you're (in all honesty) falling apart inside.
Leaving things be, forgetting them, moving on, and carrying on has ensured you are alone. Next time, do the opposite of what you feel like doing and see if it makes a difference in your life, unless victimizing yourself (because of the attention it gains) is something you enjoy.
Learn from it and quit repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Sometimes, beauty will be sitting right in front of you, and you will be blinded because nothing has ever held you back. Being held back is exactly what you need - sit in the mud and look at it, so you can finally get rid of it.
Remember: We always set ourselves up NOT to get what we want. We do this by playing games. We play games because we want to avoid intimacy. We want to avoid intimacy because we don't really deserve to be loved by anyone.
Somewhere in there, at some point in your life, you will interrupt the cycle above - thus finally experiencing the joy and love you were meant to experience. And you will wonder why you took so long...
