ROBOTS!

So yesterday, as Steffani knows (she saw me there) as well as George (I showed him the book today), I bought How To Survive A Robot UprisingIt may very well be the best $13 I ever spent. It is a great book (very funny). The only issue I had was about the physical book itself - the binding wasn't adequate for the pages it contained (about 5 are ( Read more... )

This is what I've come up with so far:

My introduction will involve explaining what robots are, show some modern robots (like the iRobot Roomba, Lego Mindstorms NXT, industrial robots, space robots, etc).

I may mention in passing Asimov's 3 laws of robotics before transitioning to the robot uprising, but since I havn't read any of his books, I don't know what context those laws were made in. Not to mention my transitioning line will likely include something from the book I just read (which might fit better right after showing some modern, commercial robots):

"Today, scientists are working hard to bring these artificial creations to life. In Japan, fuzzy little real robots are delivering much appreciated hug therapy to the elderly. Children are frolicking with smiling robot toys. It all seems so innocuous. And yet how could so many Hollywood scripts be wrong? How could millions of dollars of special effects lead us astray?"
"If popular culture has taught us anything, it is that someday mankind must face and destroy the growing robot menace."

Then I'll focus on modern robotic development (while pointing out weaknesses humans can take advantage of) in movement, navigation, sensory perception, etc.

I have to think up a good conclusion as well though.
