In late August '08 a piece of spyware managed to get past my usually efficient security programs, and bam whammo! buggered up this computer very neatly :(. I've kindof blanked out the reasons why it took so long to get anything done to it (??), but eventually I engaged the help of a techno savvy friend and voila! I am back online as of today. Even though I had gone 'no mail' on all my Yahoo groups via said friend's machine a couple of months back, it still took hours to delete the build up of email. So much utter crap and me trying to unsubscribe from things I suspect will just ignore me and continue sending sending sending (eee)...
The fix-up meant reformatting the harddrive, so of course all my bookmarks (and everything else) went to the big data dump in the sky (uhoh). This isn't a new situation for me, I went through it twice with the iMac (you think I would have learnt to do backups by now, huh?). I think I've managed to remember the important sites, and googled the others. I think of the gigantic heaving mass of bookmarks I had before, compared to the tiny handful I have now and wonder why I collect so much stuff on here??
And why am I back online for the second time today so late at night when I was sure that I could just continue to feel detached and non-addicted from the net like I have been for the past four or so months??
