ON TOP.
Oh, China. Here's a little update from my side of the globe...
I got food poisoning on the night of Jan. 1, so it left me bedridden and with a fever for two days. Now I'm six pounds lighter, but still eating meager portions and doing daily cardio sessions. I'm starting to feel like Mary-Kate Olsen.
My parents had flexible departure dates on their plane tickets, so I get to go home on Jan. 11 instead of Jan. 13 now (!!!) I'm really excited because this means that I get to go shopping and tie up loose ends before I head up to Tahoe. There's a lot to do and buy: internship applications to send out, swimsuits and beach towel sets to purchase, and packing to be done.
The roads up to the Sierra are so bad right now. My friend Jay was stuck there for 11 hours like last week because of the weather and the traffic. THAT BETTER NOT HAPPEN TO US BECAUSE I HAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH GOLDMAN SACHS WHEN I COME BACK! Egh. We're aiming to leave on the 15th and stay until the 19th, but our leaving date is pretty tentative. I hope it'll be four smooth days of just snowboarding, sick cabin parties at Jeff's and Jackie's, and hookah fresh from Israel. Paul left for Israel on Monday so I hope he's safe...now that I know it's dangerous there. Ha. I'm sure I was the only person who wasn't aware. And this is why I'm no longer an IR major...
So like I said, I'll be coming back probably on the 19th, and hanging out for a day in the city before going down to Santa Clara for my interview. I can't believe how hectic my break has been. I have literally a DAY after my interview to pack up my clothes and leave again for college. B-U-N-K. China HAS been fun though, I must admit. Good food and company, lovely sights, and cute hairstylists. I am going to miss it, but I'm coming back in the summer with friends anyway, so I'm golden.
Even though the snow will be a pain in the ass, I can't wait to get back to our suite in New England. I miss and love my roommates and I know we'll have ourselves another ridiculous semester. More drunken adventures in Amherst? I think so! So far, I only have a few plans for the year. My favorite Yalies want me to see them again down in the Have, so I am definitely going to work something out so that'll happen -- maybe we'll catch a show at Toad's or something. :) Other events? New York City for some last minute shopping and Teany purchases. Also Princeton whenever my friends let me know when the best weekend to go is. We missed winter formals last semester so we have to make up for it in the spring.
I can't believe I'm turning 20 this year. And I'm stoked. FINALLY. A decade is over. Too bad I won't be celebrating my birthday while on spring break vacation, but whatevs. I'm just glad we finally worked out that whole deal with the resort. Nassau/Paradise Island-- I can't wait. I'm a lucky girl. I never realized how many best friends I have in so many different places. In May, I promised (REALLY promised) my friends that I'll see them at their houses in Santa Cruz. They're supposed to be adorable little places and the homes to hot parties so I will have to see this for myself. Not that I doubt they throw great parties- I've partaken in many! I haven't seen my friends down there since they moved off campus so it's been a while. And plus, they're tempting me with maryjane...How can a girl resist? While I'm down there, I'm going to make a stop at SJSU too and see all the Pikes. I keep asking myself why all my friends have joined frats/sororities; I never saw it coming. Okay, maybe just a little bit.
So, overall, I'm looking forward to the new semester and the year. My little bros are growing up. Grant got all his college applications done yesterday and I just know he'll get into Yale. No question. And Robbie, that little manslut is doing well too, besides the whole mono incident. He'll probably end up at UCSB, but I'm hoping he'll at least make it to Brandeis so he can be closer to me.
Lastly, I hope Cate has a fantabulous vacation and a safe flight to Florida in two hours! I am now really heading to bed and probably not updating until 2006.
