Versailles - Prince & Princess single

Dec 12, 2008 00:36

after they went with the name Versailles The Philharmonic Quintet, it's becoming harder to separate them from other non-related Versailles stuff on the search engine. sometimes they would give me "Versailles", "Philharmonic", "orchestra", "classial" --> bleh....

anyway, i just listened to this single. was just going to order it from cdjapan, but i was hesitating because i want to buy some other things too and i wanted more time to think about it.

this is the first single from Versailles. well, i don't know which is the main song: Prince, Princess or Silent Knight, coz Prince was included in the re-released version of Noble in the US. considering that, then Pincess should be the main track, no? then again, after listening to them, i feel that i'm most amazed (still) by Silent Knight, which is an instrumental song ala hizaki.

right, let's do this one by one.

Prince, you can easily go to Versailles's Myspace page to listen to it. since i haven't bought the single, i don't know  who's the composer and now i'm trying to guess. it doesn't sound like the most majestic that Versailles can be, so i cross Kamijo off. it also didn't sound like the most aggressive Versailles can be, so i also cross Teru off. that leaves Hizaki. then again, this piece sound so freakin' Lareine-ish at the start and at the end that i just can't cross Kamijo from the list! right, maybe it's collab between the two? haha.... o well, if it's not Kamijo, then it's Hizaki. i think the chances are 60%-40% in that order.

...yet, there is some unusual melody in the middle that i can't connect to neither Kamijo, Hizaki nor Teru's work so far. it's that short melody prior to the guitar solo. the short melody that sound exquisitely, enchantingly, hauntingly calm.... and makes me think of a place in the middle of the woods whereby there's a spot where the sun shone through, and you're like floating like a fairy there.... maybe this is another Revenant Choir piece whereby the whole Versailles wrote and contribute to the song together?

now, Princess. at the beginning, i thought it was Hizaki due to the pipe organ. then came the drums and guitars and i honestly think that it was Teru, coz it was quite ala Teru, hard and aggressive. but then it was expertly brought into a calm mood, which was slowly building up, from there, into a normal-Versailles-pace. and i so crossed Teru off.

when i came to the middle, hooo, how the song sounded more and more like Aristocrat's Symphony in melody, so i guess it's Kamijo's. there's a stretch of time during which i bet i can bring the song into Aristocrat's Symphony even if you randomly stop at different places! xD still with exquisite guitar-playing (one of the reason why i love Versailles so much!) but also sweetly-calling bridge part. yappari, Kamijo desu ne? ^^

i initially thought that Silent Knight would be a bit tricky. it's an instrumental after all. the very first intrumental piece of Versailles. what do you do to your vocalist if you don't include his voice in a song? in the middle there are quite a lot of Teru-ish melody. but i've listened to all of hizaki's solo stuff, and i know what he can do, and this is not something that he can't do. and, at the beginning, it bore some of his trademark melody (i'm sure i can find similar melody somewhere in Curse of Virgo single). so for the time being, i'm putting my bet on Hizaki.

still a bit weird though. they (Versailles) know that Hizaki has a solo project, which includes at least Teru and Jasmine-You. that's 3 members out of 5-member Versailles. and since Hizaki can no longer rely on Juka to be his vocalist due to his retirement, i foresee his future releases to be instrumental like Curse of Virgo. so, is this Silent Knight song a sign that Hizaki will be intergrating his solo work with Versailles from now on? no more Hizaki Grace Project? yadaaaaa!!!!!! >_____< i LOVE HGP!!!!!!!!!!! -_______-'''''''''''''

Hizaki, don't stop your solo project!!!!!!!!!!

all in all, this is STILL a must-buy single. i just wonder if it's worth it to buy the non-regular version. the regular version will contain all 3 songs (which i will DEFINITELY get), and the non-regular version will contain only Prince and Princess, BUT it'll be in a member-customised CD format. which means that, if you buy kamijo version, you'll get kamijo printed on your CD and so on. cdjapan was promoting a poster if we buy both reg and non-reg version, and that time i was making up my mind to get the reg version and Teru's version.

why teru? coz most likely this would be the cheapest member-customised stuff that i will spare for members other than kamijo and hizaki. for example, the earlier member-customised-perfume edition that was so expensive, if i were to get it, i would get hizaki or kamijo's version. but since this time it's just 500yen, i don't mind NOT getting hizaki or kamijo =P i'm kinda mean, eh?

but Teru looked really cute on the CD. he was wearing those aristocratic top and a really short white shorts xD kinda reminds me of Toshiya xD sexy legs~ last time it was sexy stomach~ xDDD he'd been having this boyish image for quite some time. i wonder if the Versailles Kingdom now has a young prince besides their Prince (Kamijo), Princess (Hizaki), and Knight (Teru)? i still don't know where to put Jasmine-You, honestly. Mother Queen? xD

i was also contemplating buying ALL member version and selling the rest that i don't want xD but thinking about it again, how would i sell jasmine-you and yuki in singapore whereby versailles' fanbase is not that big to start off? and even if i could find a buyer, what is the percentage that s/he would want a jasmine-you or yuki version and not the other 3 version? so i think it's a bad idea.

oh, i'm getting NewS's first DVD too. not Never Ending Wonderful Story DVD, the even earlier DVD, 8-membered NewS, if i'm not wrong. with uchi's solo concert next year and Kusano's coming back from the US, and ryo's drunken confession that they would come back (die-hard fans knew that a drunk ryo's blurt-out is usually not far from truth), it's just a matter of time when the rumour will be blown out of proportion. no matter what johnny will do then, i just want to be able to convince myself 100% that: yes, i want them both back, please! i've heard of kusano's songs (i'm guessing that they're recent?) and, gosh, he sounds really good!

...Tegomassuno, johnny? *sheepish grin*
