*waves* I don't update enough anymore

I haven't disappeared... really...

Everything is just crazy hectic. I have started sleeping past 5:15 some mornings, but I still work crazy long hours. And I'm taking two classes. And trying to plan a wedding in my "free" time...

As far as the wedding goes, we have the major stuff - dress, venue, caterer, trolley, photographer... the trolley was our one major splurge, but it seats 30. We still need a dj, but we do have a ceremony musician (thank you, Rachel!).

School is getting easier. I have a great support system in the other teachers around me. There's just so much DRAMA all the time! Last Friday apparently the big fight was the Mexicans vs the blacks... the white kids had nothing to do with it, which tells you how many of those we have. It's all so stupid, and of course most of them don't listen when you tell them that 10 years from now they're not even going to remember why they hated that person over there. But the third quarter almost seems like a wash with all of the testing. CRTs (the state tests upon which our No Child Left Behind status is based) were pushed back a month. So in the middle of February the state informs the admins that we have to have the kids ready in the first week of March instead of the middle of April. Two of the last three weeks they had to take two OTHER standardized tests. I feel for them, I do. One of my classes threatened to go on strike, and I can't blame them.

And on top of it all, our wonderful governor thinks it would be a good idea to cut $66 million from the school budget.

The bar 5 minutes from school knows some of us. One of the waitresses brings us our drinks when we walk in. My job is turning me into an alcoholic... we call them "meetings" in front of the kids.

I was exhausted a few hours ago, now I'm not.

Alex is doing great. He talks more and more all the time. We got a new camera right after Christmas so I'll try to remember to post some pictures.

We'll be in Buffalo March 18 - 24. We only get a week off for Spring Break :( But I got a free room at the Rio for St Patrick's day... yeah, I've been there ONCE. It comes with a bottle of Crown Royal and a free buffet coupon. Sometimes I really love this city.

I'll be 27 in about 12 days, which just seems impossible to me. I don't feel that old. That's officially "late 20's". But I feel like I finally have stuff figured out, which is probably good since I'm all old now.

Oh, and I can't believe I almost forgot! I'm an aunt! My sister had her baby on Tuesday. I don't have pictures yet :( but apparently she looks just like my sister did as a newborn. And apparently my sister has been doing everything herself, so I'm proud of her.

Argh! There's nothing on tv. Time for bed.
