I am so SICK of Barry Bonds

Apr 11, 2006 21:37

There's nothing on tv. I'm thinking Baseball Tonight would be a good way to pass the time. I'm wrong.

Barry Bonds was rained out today (who cares?) so they're playing the top 10 moments of his career.

WHO THE HELL CARES!? SHOW STUFF FROM TODAY'S GAMES EVEN IF IT'S BONDS FREE!

Barry Bonds IS single handedly ruining baseball, but not with his drug use. He is single handedly ruining the sport by somehow managing to dominate EVERY NATIONAL BROADCAST even if it's of a game in which he's NOT PLAYING. Even if it's a game in which a team he hasn't played for in SIXTEEN YEARS is daring to win without him. They talk about him during games involving teams for whom he has NEVER PLAYED.

How many other players batting under .200 are getting national press coverage? None.

How many other players accused of using steroids are getting this much attention? None. They mention Cheeto Giambi every now and then, but it's usually to mention his tapeworm and how he suddenly learned how to play again halfway through last year. If steroid use got everyone this MUCH attention, Matt Lawton would be a household name. Viagra Palmiero IS a household name and HE didn't get this much press coverage, and he TESTED POSITIVE as opposed to just being accused repeatedly.

Ok, yeah it was sucky in a funny way when the fan threw the syringe at Bonds. Yeah, when that book came out it was a big deal. These things deserve a few moments of press time. But when the focus of an ENTIRE BROADCAST is "Bonds didn't play so we have to find some other way to make the world revolve around him", there is a PROBLEM!

It had better not be like this all summer...
