Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
This year's theme is the future Mr. Blonde Doctor. :)
Okay, I lied, it's really Horitsuba Chronicles. More on that later.
LJ, your Valentine's Day layout sucks. The navigation bar does not work, and I'm not getting my comments. No love.
Somebody tell me whether or not this sounds like a good fic idea: Excitation transfer theory. Kurogane has never experienced it before. Until Yama with Fai. Questioning body language ensues. Fai likes this idea and drags Kurogane to the bedroll. Sexing ensues. Many position changes. Fai is loud. Afterwards: Kurogane = "Damn that was a bad idea." Fai = "=3"
And you know I've been spending time in way too many psych classes when I want to write a story around excitation transfer theory. xD
Also, would someone go investigate
20_firstkisses to make sure everything makes sense before I open it to the general public?
On to Horitsuba!
Title: Horitsuba Chronicles Valentine's Day Special Edition
Rating: PGish
Summary: The chief-editor and the lead photographer of the Horitsuba Chronicles go to investigate how couples at Horitsuba and around the town are celebrating Valentine's Day in an effort to make a special editon of the newspaper.
Author's Notes: Why, hello there plot that is relevant to the overall story. That wasn't supposed to happen. This was supposed to be completely plotless and more for the "awww..." factor.
Enjoy!
“Tomoyo-chan, as chief editor of the Horitsuba Chronicles, I recommend we do a Valentine’s Day Special Edition of the newspaper!” Hokuto announced happily after calling Tomoyo to the newspaper editing room. Tomoyo had to admit, a Valentine’s Day special would be a splendid idea, a chance to showcase the romance that occurred around Horitsuba.
“What exactly did you have in mind?” she asked, already pondering what types of pictures she could get out of Kurogane and Fai and Syaoran and Sakura. Probably some really good ones as it was the most romantic day of the year.
“I recommend going around campus and documenting how lovers spend Valentine’s Day.” It sounded like a lot of work, but it also sounded like fun considering she had no one special to spend Valentine’s Day with.
“I know Souma-sensei left to go visit my sister,” she told Hokuto as she picked up her camera, and Hokuto jotted the tidbit down on her trusted notepad.
“Great start!” Hokuto pulled a few more pens out of a desk drawer and into her purse. “Let’s go find Kurogane-sensei and Fai-sensei as they’ve gotten much more elusive.”
Stepping into the hallway, she could see Umi talking to a student she didn’t recognize, but the blushing she found rather adorable. “Looks like middle-school student Ascot-kun has finally worked up the courage to ask Umi-chan out on a date. I bet she gave him some chocolate and that inspired him,” Hokuto remarked, jotting something down on her notepad.
“Do you know everyone, Hokuto-chan?” Tomoyo asked as the continued in their search for Kurogane and Fai.
“Pretty much.” She pointed down the hallway to another couple exchanging chocolates, and the green-haired boy handed the girl something that looked suspiciously like a jewelry box. “I think you know Fuu-chan, but I’m betting you don’t know Ferio. He’s Emeraude’s younger brother.” She was started to realize why Hokuto was chief editor of the Horitsuba Chronicles; when you knew everyone it was probably a lot easier to write stories about them. “I bet Emeraude is cuddling with Zagato-sensei right now.”
She was surprised when she saw Hokuto writing that information down in her notebook. “How do you know for certain that’s what they’re doing?” They could have been doing any number of things on Valentine’s Day.
“Because all they ever do is cuddle.” They checked Fai’s homeroom first; they weren’t in there, but they finally found them in Kurogane’s room. Tomoyo quickly snapped a picture without flash so Kurogane wouldn’t notice and quickly stuffed the camera in her bag while Hokuto hurriedly jotted down notes. Fai-sensei was sitting on one of the student’s desks huddled only in Kurogane-sensei’s jacked, and the gym teacher was leaning against the window with his arms folded across his chest.
“Hyuu~! Kuro-sama can never refuse me anything when I give him enough chocolate!”
“Shut up…”
“Oh look, Tomoyo-chan and Hokuto-chan are here! Hello girls!” he said, waving to them excitedly.
They both returned the wave as Kurogane stalked over to then. He deposited two small bags of chocolate each in theirs hands. “Here’s some chocolate for the two of you to go away now and not take any pictures for your silly newspaper.”
“Okay!” Hokuto agreed readily as she grabbed Tomoyo by the arm and started pulling her away. Tomoyo waved back over her shoulder as the gym teacher glared at them suspiciously before walking back into the classroom. Hokuto eagerly unwrapped a piece of the chocolate and plopped it into her mouth. “Yummy, nothing is better than Fai-sensei’s homemade chocolate made with extra tender loving care for Kurogane-sensei.”
Tomoyo handed her chocolate over to Hokuto. “I can’t eat it. I’d feel too guilty since I took a picture,” she explained as they walked towards the door.
“Keep one since one was just for going away,” she suggested, and Tomoyo happily ate that chocolate. “I wonder where Yuzuriha-chan is going so happily with that chocolate? Are the rumors about her dating an older guy true?” Hokuto mused after the girl had gone rushing past them. Tomoyo had even heard those rumors, that it was a man in the SDF, a man so different from Fai-sensei that it was rather disturbing.
“Poor girl. Just last year she was dating Kamui-kun.” Of course, everyone knew even then that her heart was still set on Fai-sensei.
“I hear Kamui-kun is dating class representative Segawa-kun.”
Tomoyo saw a blushing Sakura hand a blushing Syaoran some chocolate, and she immediately whipped out her camera. “Really? I heard he was dating Monou-kun.”
“I’m betting he’s a little player because he was crushing on my brother just last month.”
Outside the café, they saw Satsuki having tea with Yuuto-sensei.
A little further along the path they saw a very determined Sorata making an attempt to get Arashi to go out with him with a dozen roses. She couldn’t tell if he was succeeding or not, because she was much more interested in the event down the path.
Watanuki handing Doumeki the chocolate which he claimed was from Yuuko-sensei. Doumeki, after eating his Valentine’s Day treat, promptly announced, “Let’s go have sex.”
Watanuki’s predictable spaz attack was drowned out by the surprisingly louder noise of a dump truck passing behind the girls, and they turned to investigate that instead. Tomoyo could see Valentine’s Day presents filled the inside and at the top of the heap were three elementary school students she didn’t recognize.
“Nokoru-kun, Akira-kun, Suoh-kun, what are you three doing up there?” Hokuto called up to them. Tomoyo decided to snap a picture before one of them fell off.
“This is the only way we could get all of our Valentine’s Day presents off of the campus so we could enjoy them later.”
“That’s a lot of chocolate…”
“And I have no doubt that you two lovely ladies are planning a very special Valentine’s edition for the Horitsuba Chronicles.” Hokuto nodded excitedly. “Well, there’s a Valentine’s Day story for the two of you right over there,” he told them pointing with his fan.
Tomoyo and Hokuto both looked, and while they were looking the truck took the boys away. “Takepon! Why won’t you eat the homemade chocolate I made for you!” Watching those two boys gave Tomoyo fond memories of Kurogane and Fai’s first Valentine’s Day together.
“Tomoyo-chan, do you know what we should do if we want to make our Valentine’s edition super special?” She shook her head, but she was sure whatever Hokuto suggested would be delightful. “Go out into town and see what notable members of our community are doing for Valentine’s Day!”
“That’s a great idea! We should definitely try to find Sakura-chan’s older brother!”
“And my brother of course!”
Within five minutes, they were both in a pair of borrowed roller blades and were quickly leaving the school behind. “Where should we go first?” Tomoyo asked as she followed Hokuto.
“There’s this cute little café Sei-chan likes to visit. We should try going there first.” A café would be a nice date place. Besides, there was always the chance they could find some other couples at that place.
From Hokuto’s sigh of disappointment, she surmised that “Sei-chan” was not there, but she did see three other people she recognized. “Sakura’s older brother is on a date with Yukito,” she said in an effort to cheer Hokuto up, pointing to their table. They certainly had a lot of food, but Yukito looked extremely happy. “And Ashura-sama looks like he’s on a date.” She didn’t recognize the long-haired man he was with, but Ashura seemed to be hanging on his every word. “He’s a member of the police department.”
“See, Tomoyo-chan, you know people.” Yes, but she wasn’t exactly happy with how she knew Ashura, and Touya didn’t count as he was Sakura’s older brother. “Come on, we still need to find Sei-chan and my brother.”
As they continued on their quest, Hokuto made a sudden stop at an electronics store, and Tomoyo had a difficult time turning in time to follow her inside. “Chitose-san are you here?” A woman Tomoyo had not seen before stepped outside of the backroom followed by a girl who could have been her age with long blonde hair and the strangest ears she had ever seen.
“Good afternoon, Hokuto-chan. How can we help you?” The blonde-haired girl smiled at Tomoyo.
“I was wondering how you and Icchan were going to be spending Valentine’s Day.”
“We were just going to stay in and eat dinner with the girls.” Tomoyo could tell from the way she looked at the girl with the ears that she was one of the “girls” referred to.
“How adorable! Well, we have to get going. Stories to write and everything.”
“Have a nice day!” she heard the blonde girl call after them as Hokuto led her out of the store.
“That’s odd,” Hokuto remarked, still holding on to Tomoyo’s arm, “Chitose-san isn’t old enough to have a daughter that age.” They continued skating through town for another half hour, Hokuto constantly looking through windows of stores and apartments alike. When she finally stopped, she nearly caused Tomoyo to fall when she pulled on her hand to halt her. “Ashura-sensei?!”
Tomoyo looked through the window Hokuto was staring slack-jawed at. She didn’t recognize either of the two men. “Who are they?”
“I don’t recognize the blonde one with him, but the dark-haired man is Ashura-sensei. He used to teach at Horitsuba. He was fired some time ago after a scandal involving Fai-sensei.”
“Scandal?” She wondered if Kurogane-sensei knew about this scandal.
“We’re not sure of the exact details, but Fai-sensei disappeared for a while after that. When he finally came back, he just wasn’t the same.” Through the window she was the blonde move closer to Ashura. “Come on, I don’t want to stay here.”
Tomoyo thought Hokuto had her own theories about what the scandal was because she seemed much more subdued as they continued their search. She didn’t want to think about it too much anyway.
She sensed a sudden change in Hokuto’s attitude when the older girl darted down a side alley, and it took a moment before Tomoyo realized she was gone. With a sigh, she turned and followed her.
“Sei-chan, how dare you bring my brother to a shady place like this?” she arrived just in time to see Hokuto chastising a suit-wearing man she didn’t recognize. In fact, out of the four men there, she only recognized Hokuto’s brother.
“Relax, Hokuto-chan, I would never bring my beloved Subaru to a place like this for Valentine’s Day. I just need to collect payment for services rendered for these two gentlemen so I can take him out on a proper date.”
The blonde smiled and waved at the girls. “Seishirou-san has been very useful to us, hasn’t he, Lantis?”
“You’re a vet,” Hokuto said suspiciously. Tomoyo noticed the Lantis guy looked uncomfortable there as well.
“A precious cat we hope to reclaim soon was in serious danger from someone who wanted to take him back.”
“I think that’s enough, Eagle. We have dinner reservations,” and Lantis started to walk out of the alley.
“Lantis gets jealous when I’m not paying attention to him. It was nice working with you, Seishirou-san,” Eagle said before following Lantis out the alley. Tomoyo watched them leave.
“Now that my business is conducted, I’m going to take your brother on the most romantic evening he’s ever been on. You can write that in your newspaper.” The girls followed them outside the alley. “I’ll make sure to return him tomorrow morning.”
“Tomoyo-chan, let’s go back to the school and compose the Valentine’s Day special edition of the Horitsuba Chronicles. Kurogane-sensei’s apartment is on the way there so we can see if our beloved teachers are actually spending time with each other.”
They stopped outside Kurogane’s apartment on the way back to the school, and they stood on a park bench on the opposite side of the street to try to see into his window. “Can you see anything, Tomoyo-chan?”
“I think I can see Fai-sensei… and I think he’s on top of Kurogane-sensei.”
“Ohohohohoho! I think I know what their Valentine’s tradition is.” Tomoyo was sure it would be the headline of the special edition of the newspaper, so she pulled out her camera and tried to get the best picture she could.
Happy Valentine's Day!
