Bb. Pilipinas 2011 on TV right now. I have two classmates among the contestants; one from high school and one from arki. The former used to be an awkwardly tall tomboy who played volleyball and basketball and never really cared about her looks. Our graduation was the last time I saw her but I can still remember the sound of her laugh. The latter used to be a simple, unassuming achiever who was more concerned about her studies than prettifying herself. The last time we saw each other was last year, during the infamous thanksgiving party when I got so embarrassingly and hysterically drunk that I had to be taken in a separate room lest I hurt myself (never again). Unbeknownst to her, she was also one of the people who made me feel better when I was going through the rough aftermath of a break up. If anyone had told me before that these two would someday be competing in a beauty pageant, I would highly doubt it. There's a couple of lessons to be learned somewhere in there.
