So, I planted some blueberry bushes in planters and am hoping I will get berries from them next year. I also want to get a strawberry plant for the patio and maybe a tomato plant. Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be able to get a garden done in the back yard this summer due to 2 more pressing items. The first is that I need a new water softener. The one that came with the house is blowing through salt faster than a coke addict can sort. I go through around 40lbs of salt a week, and this is crazy! Buck, Liz, and I aren't home at much, and we don't use that much water. My appliances are water efficient too. It turns out the previous owner bought the cheapest model he could find and didn't account for water use and house size. So, I have to spend the big bucks for a new unit (which should pay for itself in 2 years). This means I will be adding salt twice a year instead of every month.
Also, I have to get the basement well pump area fixed. It is leaking and I don't know whether it needs to be re-sealed or have part of the yard out to fix it. Only the concrete people know (and they are being butts about getting back with me).
In other news, work is going better. I have tasks to do that differentiate my job from others and the people below and above me seem to enjoy working with me. I also get to start taking a bunch of supervisor training classes and other classes offered by the company. I am hoping to take a lot of them because they all sound so interesting.
I am working on reading A Dance with Dragons and am finding it difficult to read through since the chapters are not uniform in their writing (if that makes any sense). I also bought a 3DS so that when Pokemon X/Y comes out I am prepared. I finished black 2 and am just finishing black. In other video game news I am getting close to beating the main quest line of Skyrim (after 2 previous starts). I had to abandon the previous games due to an accumulation of errors. It would be nice to finally finish it in some form after working at it sporadically since it came out.
George is huge (my 'baby' cat at a year old) and weighs 17.2 lbs the last time I weighed him. He is an awesome cat and we have decided that he is the momo theme song from Avatar. He is great at locking himself in rooms and also at making haunted house sounds instead of meows. Jasper and Hemi are also doing well.
