A pond is not welcome in my basement:
So, the water softener this morning decided it wanted the basement to have a pond. It decided that the hoses which empty the water into the drainage pipe were no longer friends of that particular pipe and leapt out whilst spewing water in a fit of rage. Hence a tiny swamp was made of the carpet in the hallway outside the softener room and a miniature pond was inside the room.
The insurance company isn’t sure if it qualifies for coverage, but told me that they can reimburse me as well as a company. So, I called up a company and an hour later the carpet is gone and a miniature vortex of wind is running merrily down there to dry out the drywall (which soaked water more than a foot up the wall).
The bonus from all of this? Buck will get a hotel room away from animals and pesky humans for a night or two.
Other things that have gone bad recently also include the toilet ring needing to be fixed because it was starting to leak, the drain from the kitchen sink got plugged and had to be snaked by a plumber (whom also fixed the toilet and installed a new garbage disposal), and now I am simply waiting for the next drama to occur.
Within the last year I have had to get a new roof, gutters, downspouts, fascia, soffets, up pump/grinder, upstairs and downstairs shower/baths, and get my well pump services because it was leaking.
People. Stay renters or buy a condo. At least with a condo you don't worry about the structure or yard care.
