It's been awhile since I posted. Things are going reasonably well, just very, very busy.
Obviously,
WW and the associated planning is eating my brainz. And my energy. And my sleep. :P I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but people are being extra sooper high maintenance this year and some of the folks who are being an issue really ought to know better. *sigh* Anyway, we need to get the volunteer lists filled in (
hint, hint) but other wise I think we are in good shape. I'm generally pleased with the schedule and some of our new plans for the site organization and layout. There are some really fun activities planned and the classes rock seven ways to Sunday, including a new "Night School" on Thursday night. There are still some things we need to make/do/purchase/confirm before the event, but things are well on their way.
As far as other events, right after WW is the
Midwest Viking Festival and I am going to demo some food stuff. It's crazy to do right after WW, but it's something I know like the back of my hand, so I think I'll be able to leave pretty much all my camping gear in the car, just toss in clean garb and my cooking kit and hit the road for Fargo. I'm insane and entirely looking forward to it. The Early Period Symposium got canceled again, which is both sad and sort of a relief. I really wanted to attend it, but probably would have been teaching for most of the day anyway. :P So, a free weekend is not tragic, and maybe some quality alternate weekend plans may be able to be had. Griffin Needle Challenge is a go and I am working on updating the webpage.
fencingkitty was kind enough to let me just steal the format from last time and we will just update it as appropriate. I am learning how to do that in a document that has a CSS, and it's sort of an adventure because, well, I don't even know I qualify as being a novice webminister, but hey, you never know till you try, eh?
TeslaCon is likewise coming along nicely. I'm the schedule coordinator this year and we just started collecting activity proposals, to be evaluated late July. Oh, yeah, and there's
Pennsic in there too... three classes and two days on Artisan's Row there too... and shopping, lots of shopping... I'd wanted to go for both weeks, but my sister will be in town around then with my little nibling, so I may either leave late or come back early or both. We'll see what their schedule does to my vacation plans, which of course are also impacted by work scheduling.
Work is also being more stressful than even strictly necessary. More people have left and we are starting to get into vacations... and one of the NPs had her baby this weekend, a month early, so we were scrambling a bit today. There are state budget woes, internal budget woes, and ugly, disgusting federal issues. The worst of it is that the "last" formulary rejection (at least the last one they are admitting to on their schedule) should hit June 29. Yup. Right before WW. FML.
Craftiness - I WANT a new dress. I NEED to finish a few projects first. I should have two significant items from my MUST do list done by the weekend. I hope to have three. Not sure I'll be able to pull off even a new accessory before WW, but I have churned out some cool stuff for the event at least. Look! Signs! These are almost done - they just need some clear-coat - I may do a few more - I still have a few blanks, but these were the required batch.
While I have not turned out much in the way of fibery goodness for myself, I've been a patterning fool for some folks in the Barony and I have another appointment Wednesday to fit a doublet for Gerald. Demona came over and got a good start on her Pictish Tunic for WW - Yay for Picts! I didn't even twist her arm, I swear... I've been more creative with food - piles and piles of cupcakes, some truly out-of-this-world chili, kale chips, homemade granola, all sorts of good stuff... and today was eat like a Scot day - Skyr for breakfast and Shepherd's Pie for lunch. Nummy.
I've been slacking some on the exercise thing - I've just been so busy, it's one of the things that most easily slips from the docket. Plus, last week I got new sandals, which led to getting new sandal blisters and sweating with blisters on your feet is just awful. :( Must get back on the wagon again either late this week or early next week... The regular exercise and stretching in the hot tub seems to be helping with the joint issues. Maybe it's just placebo effect, but whatever - it's better than nuthin. I do finally have my Rheumatology appointment toward the end of July, so we'll see what they say. However! One absolute win of the exercise thing: there was an exercise challenge at my gym where you signed up to pledge a certain number of hours of cardio and/or a certain amount of weight lost and they donated a matching amount to a local food bank. My contributions February through the end of May totaled 621 pounds of food for Second Harvest! Yay!
I have a new roommate - I'd been too long without the requisite Sara(h) and Sara/Calliste/Delphine moved in last week. :) Happiness. I've lived with her for two years before, so I know we are long-term compatible. In related news, I'm giving up on having the house on the market. I had it priced just enough over the assessed value that I thought I could get something like the assessed value for it, but the new assessments came out and... ouch. Yeah. Not enough to put me under water, but enough that I'm not likely to have enough "profit" for a decent downpayment anywhere else either... That and I really have not had a serious showing in about six weeks, plus the new roommate situation making meeting the mortgage a happier thing and I think we're staying for a few more years.
Well, enough post-work decompressing... I'm actually having my house re-roofed, courtesy my insurance company after some of the hail damage earlier this spring. Having people on my roof makes me nervous. Very nervous... Pathologically nervous... I thought if I blogged long enough they would quit for today, but I have too much to do to dally any longer. :( Blech. Will go drown my sorrows in painting, salsa, or Scotch, as needs dictate.
