WW Survey Results

Thank you to the 100 people who filled out the survey regarding this year's WW. Some of your comments echoed things we had already considered, others were new ideas we will have to consider carefully for next year. A summary of some of the more common suggestions/comments:

*Roads and paths - I'm glad the flags went over well! 95% of you found them at least useful. For those of you who could not distinguish between the white and the yellow flags - the yellow were intentionally made almost a foot taller to make them distinguishable by size as well as color. For those of you who found yourselves singing "Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow they yellow flag road" - you hit on our plan exactly! ;) While I appreciate the requests for additional roads, it is a public park that we are getting special dispensation to drive on the grass at all. We will in all likelihood be adding more walking paths next year and will see what can be done about other potential driving roads.

* Weather - I *explicitly* placed an order for mid-70's, partly sunny, light breeze weather. I am filing a complaint against the weatherman. ;) The rain we enjoyed during set-up did leave some persistent boggy spots (in the merchants, in part of parking, along the original driving exit lane), so some things shifted from the original intent, but nothing irrecoverable. That said, this is an event in the Midwest in July - the chances of hot days and night storms approaches 100%. At least we enjoyed a lot of sun!

* Recycling - I will be investigating additional options for next year. The Girl Scouts made an attempt at recycling this year, but it did not work optimally. If anyone has a brilliant idea or wants to be the Hippy-in-Chief, lemme know.

* Activities - suggestions will be forwarded to the appropriate department heads for planning next year. Common requests were for a return of the planned torchlight tourney, evening classes, and more fightin'.

* Location - Just like I'd love perfect weather, I'd love to put WW someplace where it was a 27 minute drive for everyone in the Kingdom. Sadly, I've not been able to work that out yet. Stoopid space-time continuum. The WW Site Search Team evaluated dozens of sites before settling on Boscobel and we are blessed to have a reasonable site in a town that wants us there. However, if you know of a site that you think would be better, please let the autocrats know and we will try and consider the options for future year.

* Parking - Ingus and I had already identified the concerns about trailers in the parking lot. Next year, we will be more clear about the policy that all trailers belong in the trailer parking behind the baseball diamond and NOT in the paved parking lot.

* Clean up and volunteering - Many people said that they would have helped with clean up but were too tired/had too long of a drive to stay for hours. The simple truth is this - many hands make light work! If everyone gave us 20 minutes, staff could be out and on their way before lunch, instead of hoping and praying to be off site before dark. Next year, please consider donating even a small amount of time - We hugely appreciate it!

I will be closing the survey now, but will continue to welcome suggestions - please just email me privately!

Thank you all for your input!u
